From the American Heritage Dictionary:
SPOONING:
| Quote: |
v. intr.
Informal: To engage in amorous behavior, such as kissing or caressing.

You know, I'm so tired of watching you beat me to the punch that I'm... hanging up my gloves! (no, not much of a threat, but it's the only boxing metaphor that comes to mind)
Anyway, here it was:
[ intrans. ] informal dated (of two people) behave in an amorous way; kiss and cuddle : I saw them spooning on the beach. |

Hey!!
"I wish to reply with a witty and tasteless 'fork' comment"!!!
I hate these polls with built-in numazawa-neutralizers. |

Now that you mention it, that sounds rather more like a refined version of "eating" to me... |

Oh, Mr. Guru, Mr. Guru,
You have to get up pretty darn early in the morning AND have only 90 minutes of work in a day (these days) to have the time to surf Dave's like I do, looking for the smallest excuse to make a post.
Next week, on Friday, I start my new job. I have PROMISED myself that I will start doing more productive stuff with my free time and stop spending so much time here at Dave's. Cohiba thinks I should, and god knows everyone respects his opinion so much...
So don't hang up those gloves so fast.
And Mr. Brobby...BB Robby... Mr. Billy (???) says he will PAY W1000 to meet you and me at next weekend's gettogether. I have low standards, so W1,000 is well within my price for selling out...Are you going? I will go if I am not moving that day. (New job, no one knows when the moving company will come or what my new address will be...) However, I will hold him to the W1,000 each. No way I'm going if I'm going to have to split the money two ways. |

Personally, I prefer 'geezer'. It has a certain cachet that 'fogy' just doesn't have. |

| Definitely big spoon. One reason that I don't like hot summer weather is that spooning can be pretty uncomfortable if you're not really into the whole hot-sticky-flesh thing.... |

Oh dear. That was cruel?? Considering some of the outright verbal decapitations one sees on this board, I figured that was so mild as to almost be online flirting. Anyway, my apologies for making you cry. I guess I was just thinking that as Ya-ta is from America, he might not be aware or need to adapt his usage of "geezer".
Respecfully,

Nope. Just proves they draw comics of it.
Nope. That's clearly a blow-up doll.
Nope. Pure science fiction. Didn't you see the Asimov book there?
Okay, okay. They do. And why shouldn't they? I'd hit that. |

Given that you're naturally a pretty big spoon, any girl that attempted to take that role would look like a barnacle on a (strangely slim) cruise ship. |

Nice image! I have tried to be little spoon, but it just doesn't work for me.... I don't like it when my tallness denies me opportunities like this. |
