No, this guy is a pertentious hersey stain. He trolls everyone and as you can see gets really defensive when someone turns the tables on him.

I figured you go for that one! Like sands through the hour glass these are the days of our lives.

It's a great show and I hadn't heard it was canceled. I hope they do a fourth season.

I agree with you about EB Farnum. He defines "weasly".

I'd really like another season or two. *sniff*

i really like the actor who plays him. i've seen him in other things, but i can't remember what.

since we're bringing things back on track, how well do you follow along with all the politics and innuendo?
and who are the two black guys? there's the n*gger general (was he actually in the military at all, or where did his nickname come from?) and his older friend. outside of letting loose a wild horse, what were they doing in the camp?
i've only begun season three. perhaps i'll understand more as i continue through it.

The politics involve primarily whether or not Montana Territory will annex Deadwood.

The older black dude owns the livery and the "general" is his friend who blew into town. I think they were castrating the horse or something when it got loose and trampled Marshall Bullock's nephew/son.

it's a great show, and i'm really enjoying it, but i'm starting to find it really difficult to keep track of. a lot of the politics i find confusing. for example, i'm having a hard time knowing which characters are interested in which territories annexing the camp, and why, and who is getting paid for what. it doesn't help that 90% of what anyone says on that show is said through innuendo.
mind you, whenever i do understand what someone is referring to, i love it. i was only able to find subtitles for the first four episodes of it, so my wife can't watch it with me. every now and again, she'll ask me what's going on, and i have to tell her that i'm not entirely sure.
a bunch of illiterate hillbilly psychopaths are making me feel dumb.
that said, i think my favorite character is e.b. farnham. but in a 'love to hate' kind of way. i was happy to see him get the crap beat out of him.
am i the only one having troulbe keeping track of all the goings on in this show?

I can't remember which episodes exactly cover what politics, and don't want to be a spolier, but a good place if you are confused by the exact goings-on is: http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/articles/category_1191.html

Don't feel dumb, a good portion of the show is written in iambic pentameter and uses vocabulary from the actual era--words we don't use quite so much any more, for example using the word "beard" in it's rare usage of "diverting suspicion," or perambulation for "take a stroll." Stuff like that.

The politics are an extremely interesting part of the show, with interests shifting day-to-day depending on some previous days' events. For instance, stability of the community is not in Swearengin's interests under circumstance A, but under circumstance B, communal stability becomes the lesser evil to him, and again, under circumstance C, he could go either way, which makes him the most powerful player again in the town at a certain point after having been pushed to the fringes. Amazing stuff, really. Complex, but amazing, and you'll love it even more after a third watching, as you'll start to catch the themes, as well as the language. Yes, it's Shakespeare in language, but also in depth of plot.

HBO will wrap up Western series with two full-length cable films.

Looks like Deadwood will get a proper send-off after all.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO and series creator David Milch have reached an agreement that will allow the show's myriad storylines a wrap-up fitting of an Emmy-winning series. Milch will now write two 2-hour movies, which will provide closure on the lives of the denizens of the frontier town

thanks for all that. i'll give that website a read when i've caught up with the show. without subtitles, i probably won't have time for a second viewing until next month when the baby arrives and my wife has to go to her mother's place for a month. grrr... should be the most exciting month of my life, but i'm likely to spend it alone watching tv. but that's for another thread.

Look up the show on Wiki as well as the real-life town of Deadwood. Lots of good info there. Keep in mind it's all loosely based on actual people and an actual city.

To the OP.

Deadwood is great, but you do have to watch closely to follow it. There are a few sites that will help you along, episode for episode.

In my opinion, the best show on HBO is Entourage. No question. After that, Big Love is great too. Check them out.
