Though this posting was made over 12 years ago, I find it extremely relevant today since nothing seems to have changed during that time.
Korea is not an advanced society no matter how much it tries to convince itself and others it is. |

Every country feels like that. |
I didn't even get the slightest hint of this in Thailand or Philippines...
In my opinion, Korea is on par with America in terms of nationalism.
The difference being that most westerners wouldn't even be able to point out korea on a map, or even distinguish hangul from japanese/chinese. Obviously America is important on a global stage, so the nationalism is understandable. |

Whoever you are, Wherever you are is the center of the world. If you move, it moves. |

I always thought if you are in the center, you don't move, everything else moves around you so you just feel like you are moving. Kind of like walking the wrong way down an escalator. |

Let me guess, the xanax thing didn't work out. However, your post does reek of some truth. |

In my experience, yes, I believe a lot of people in many countries like to think that everyone has their eyes on them, or that the world revolves around them.
I guess everyone (from whatever nation) has the need to feel special or important in their own way. Some people tend to justify it by focusing on:
Perceived cultural uniqueness
Perceived cultural or philisophical influence on the world
Perceived political importance
Perceived moral or religious superiority
etc... |
The US is politically more important than any other country, and the West (France, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) is morally superior to any other country. |

Motion is always relative to one's perspective. The Earth revolves around the Sun only if you want to establish the most direct, simplified, and useful perspective. As far as I'm concerned the universe rotates around North America. |

To put it simply, the world and the universe beyond it revolves around you. Because you are within you and you can't get out of that. That being said, how selfish you are! Do you really think everything revolves around you? |

When I was a child, I used to spin in circles and then fall to the ground dizzy. The world did indeed revolve around me.
Not selfish...dizzy in the head. |
