When you have some friends that are senior engineers for Samsung then roll your eyes buddy. Sony buys their panels from Samsung. Lg/Philips panels are better. Iaudio mp3/pmp players are considered the best from Korea. |

Who really gives a crap about what you think of Samsung. Everything is made in China anyways so why are you even complaining? If you don't like it then don't buy it. You sound ridiculous.
"Hey, look at me. I ordered something online and it sucked when I got it." Yeah, like thats NEVER happened to anyone in the world before. |
Hey Pkang,
There is no need to jump all over the OP. THis isn't the general, current, job, or off-topic forum. Believe it or not, we are ALL civil to one another here. Also, we try to help each other out. Furthermore, if we have a difference of opinion, we debate about it; we don't argue or result to name calling. So, if you want to jump in with your two cents worth, go for it. Just don't come on here slinging mud at everyone. That is for the cretans that can't back up the filth that comes out of their mouths or those that rely on mere conjecture and hearsay as a source of "credibility". Anyways, welcome!

Aye, you got a point there. Sorry OP. My previous post was not well thought out. I was a little quick on the trigger with the response.
If the OP would've said "I've had bad experiences with Samsung, I'm not going to buy their products again" then I think I would've responded more appropriately.
To the OP, finding fault with a product is one thing, saying everyone is a crack addict for liking a brand is something different altogether. Maybe the OP would like to list some of his favorite brands so that I can find evidence of "it sucking". |

I've got a CX710MP Samsung Syncmaster Magic monitor and it is great. Hasn't given me any hassle for three years and the picture is very good. I think the design is good too and the speakers are very good for built in ones.
So, one satisfied customer at least |

Comparing an overclocked card to a stock card? If you overclock the Evertop card to the same speed as the BFG model, they would be identical.

Gigabyte is from Taiwan. Further, you can buy Gigabyte boards with the 975xbx chipset. The only difference would be in the secondary features which can be better or worse than whatever motherboard you are comparing. (RAIDs available, sound options, # of slots available, etc.).
Gigabyte boards tend to actually sport more options like automatic overclocking when required while Intel boards stay away from that so to ensure a more stable experience.

Unless Corsair suddenly changed recently, their benchmarks were usally on par with Samsung because they've been using Samsung DDR2 chips in their RAM products since 2004. As an added bonus, Samsung chips overclock on average more than what is offered from other venders.
In the fairness of full disclosure of the brands discussed, I have 100GB of Samsung DDR RAM, 24TB of Samsung HDD space, 50 Gigabyte and 12 Intel 945 chipset motherboards, and 40 Samsung 19" 2ms monitors. |

Sony using Samsung LCDs is old news. Sony originally bet that their Trinitron line of TVs and monitors would carry them for years and was quite caught off guard as LCD monitors displaced CRT monitors as the dominant consumer platform years ahead of most projections.
Hell, Samsung will sell branded monitors to anyone. I've been tossing the idea around of getting my own branded monitors if I can meet the minimum order. Though their is a certain prestiege in having Samsung monitors.
Oddly, Apple historically has gone with LG for their LCD monitors. |

| Well, I use a Samsung CRT and it's great. I have nothing else Samsung and never will, but this 2100DF is a great monitor. |

True. Performance wise it will be identical. What about usable life? Me thinks not. What about the quality of...say...the board (i.e. the little things like heat threshholdd and quality)? Me thinks not. |

My Samsung keyboard and mouse are very nice! I tried a Microsoft keyboard and mouse set and they were awful. Clunky and sticky. Went back to the Samsung.
With GPU's I would guess that the only significant differences between brands would be how much they are overclocked and how efficient the cooler attached is.
LCD's? No idea. What makes a good LCD panel? |

Have you ever done a longevity test on the components cl...honestly.
Just because something is cheaper and isn't a big brand name doesn't necessarily mean it sucks or its not going to last.
The Korean graphics cards, at least, have always lasted for me. I've never had a problem and I've used some for over 2 years, overclocked the whole-time until they became obsolete.
Then again...I'll never buy a small-name MP3 player again. Man, my made in Korea "Stormblue" player bites big-time. |

The only products I own which have had obvious quality control issues have been the Antec cases (several catching fire and shipping with power supplies that are only reliable at half their listed spec), Maxtor drives (four of the five I owned have ceased to be), and NEC LCD monitors (50% have had problems).
Samsung wise, I've had:
-one monitor's DVI port cease to work out of 50. In comparison, 50% of my six NEC monitors have serious problems and were replaced or pulled. Though the four LG monitors I own work without issue.
-two defective RAM chips of our hundreds (and possibly related to the Antec power supply problem). In comparison, I've had more Kingston RAM chips cease working yet only have about 20 of the chips here.
-Samsung HDDs: One 80GB drive (of 25), two 200GB drives (of 60) and one 400GB drive (of 60) not work. In comparison, I've had one Western Digital drive cease work (of four), one Seagate (of 20), and four Maxtors (of five) cease to be.
Other useful stats to compare against:
-I've had two graphic cards cease to be (of 80), though one was my fault as it was pulled while the computer power was still on.
-Replaced one of 20 LG DVD burners (still worked, but was slow when reading).
I also use a Samsung colour laser printer which prints 500 pages a week without issue. Also have a black one in the back which took a four foot tumble before crashing on the floor, yet continues to work without issue.
So where we going with this? |

My only point is that some products are manufactured better by different companies (in our case, I am arguing that Graphics cards, as a whole product and not just the GPU, are produced better when the company's sole intent is to sell graphics cards).
As someone indicated above, they would never buy XYZ mp3 player because it sucked. Well, that goes to show you, some brands are better than others.
Point - BFG and XFX focus soley on grphaics cards while Samsung and other manufacturers like to dab a little here and a little there. Thus, their products, when put up against the big boys, will not weigh the same.
Playing devil's advocate and supporting you for a moment, you could say that the same GPU from XYZ company will perform the same as the GPU that came from ABC company. True, but which one is built to last? And how do you define performance? Sure, any GPU can hit the mhz they are manufactured to hit. However, which ones can take the heat, pressure, and wear better? That is my point. Not that they "perform" the same, that some are better qualities than others.
Let's rewind a bit back to when Harley Davidson first introduced the "Harley". Those pieces of shit were falling apart every which way one could think of. Then, Japan broke into the US market and practically devoured Harley with their bike. Sure, they produced some motorcycles identical to Harley's, however, which one's out lasted which? That's right, Kawasaki killed Harley. Harley was so devastated that they had to revamp everything from mgmt. to the way they built their sh!@.
Back to PC products. THis is the same situation here. Two identical GPU's operate identically, but, which one will out last the other? My money is on the company (BFG, XFX, EVGA) that focuses only on Graphics Cards and not on cars, washing machines, computers, superconductors, hair dryers, toothbrushes, etc. (Samsung).
Again, that is not to say Samsung is bad, it isn't. Just not MY cup of tea. |

And I did state this in an earlier post. Zalman, IMO, is great and top notch when it comes to coolers (I have one on my E6600 right now). |
