I had just moved into a new apartment in Suju, Yongin. My apartment is really small and I couldnt stand having it in my room, so i bought a generic U-lock from E-Mart. I locked it to the stairwell railing just outside my apartment door. They were REALLY brave and stole it sometime between 8:30am and 7pm!!!!

That said, i know it is totally my fault. I assumed that the lock was made of hardened steel and the lock was quality. Hardened steel can't be cut.....it must be cut with a torch - your average thief doesnt have an acetylene torch in their back pocket.

So, whether it was the actual lock that was totally shat (http://www.engadget.com/2004/09/14/kryptonite-evolution-2000-u-lock-hacked-by-a-bic-pen/), or it was the steel that wasn't hardened or they broke the lock .....i dont know. But I this weekend i am going to buy another bike and i guarantee that it is going to stay in my apartment, even if i have to climb over it to go to the bathroom!!!

My advice to you.....KEEP IT IN YOUR APARTMENT. IF NOT AT LEAST MAKE SURE YOU USE A HARDENED U-LOCK!!!!!!!!!

Did you JUST buy it??? Whats wrong.....dont like it??

Yes, I did just buy it last weekend. It's an awesome bike. I have taken it out a couple of times just around town, and it handles great. I am a little bit of bike snob. The store demo had full XT components while the ordered model showed up with an XT, LX, Deore mix. I know that might seem trivial to most people. I'll probably just keep it regardless. Cool

I bought a Scott SL22 and had it shipped over. I keep it in my
apartment at night and lock it with an "on Guard" lock when I
leave it outside:

Korean/Chinese locks are crap. One good blow with a hammer or some
prying with a small crowbar will open them easily. I had the "On Guard"
sent over. Don't skimp on the lock!
