You actually believe that 40% of teachers here are presenting fake degrees? Really?

I also think 40% is a bit much, to say the least.

However, I do know that one of your ex-co-workers was employed without even holding a degree, and thank God he left before I found out, otherwise I would have reamed him. Friendly enough guy, but when a hogwon worker finds out that but for knowing the right people he could have had a uni job, he would get a little bit pi$$ed.

Svetlana, are you Korean or a sock for a Korean poster?
By the sound of your post, you might be....

I honestly don't care if the person has a degree or not, I knew alot of people who taught well but didn't have degrees, and I sadly knew people who held very good credentials and soiled their names by doing VERY questionable stuff.

Immigrations policy of weeding out bad teachers appears to be working

Actually it's more like 60%.

Remember that info from last year. The MOJ said there were estimated to be about 10,000 foreigners working as teachers legally and about 20,000 working illegally. Now not everyone working illegally has a fake degree...but there are also quite a few "legals" with fake degrees as well...so it probably evens out. 2/3=66 Allowing for a few percentage points of error....I'd say that 60% seems good....certainly it's higher than 40% if these numbers are anywhere close to accurate.

"Remember the info"... You are missing the point their TUM.

The point is that the "info" is bunk.

And do you have any proof that I should believe you over the MOJ?

And why do you think you would have a clearer idea of how many foreigners are working here than the MOJ?

And even if the number of illegally working foreinger here is say only 10,000 that's still about 50%.

We foreigners just downright suck.

If you believe the Korean news and papers.
