Troll can be a noun or a verb. While a troll is a person who is up to no good, any one of us could go trolling at any time. Yet I don't think it makes us trolls.

By the way, the term comes from fishing, not mythical creatures.

Are you sure you're not confusing the way one word can have different meanings? The etymological origin of the common internet usage of the word 'Troll' comes from fishing?

Please explain, I'm ignorent.

Obviously the fact that it is also the name of a mythical monster makes it much better.

You know I reckon being a Troll has a place in the psychological evolution of an online personality. Being a Troll is like getting through your teenage years, except online. Trolls are a bit like nasty teenagers, I reckon the current generation of eslcafe.com users are a bit angry with Trolls but I think it's best to realise that they are just people that are going through the pains of maturing into responsible adults.

It's like teacher training...the Troll is not the person.

Well at least we got rid of that nasty TM troll. Now if we could only get the other 10 to 12 other trolls kicked off.

I guess this plays off the old lawyer joke...

What do you call 50 internet trolls at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.
