| Did this not happen before during the civil war? Immigrants from Europe were required to do service as soon as they arrived. I did a module on American history and on the New York segment I'm sure this was mentioned. I really loved that module..it was taught by a vietnam vet from upstate new york who had a rediculously strong hand shake and said things like 'god speed'. I wasn't sure he was for real for a while, but he was pretty cool. |

| I like what Bill Maher said on this topic. He basically said that people overlook the truth that Mexican immigrants do many of the jobs Americans don't want to do. |

Difference: Native Americans were hoodwinked and conquered. If Mexicans come in and conquer the US, they can have it. |
Given the fact that the Hispanic population will become larger than the Caucasian or African population in a few decades (based on current rates of reproduction), they will conquor it if they remain politically active. |

Solution to Save Gasoline:
Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down. Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the borders . i fully support the idea that citizens of any nation should perform duties to protect and benefit their nation,
but i'm not sure that being a soldier would be the only way to do this.
this idea seems on the surface to be reasonable, and i am sure those who are in harms way right now (US soldiers) would have strong opinions on this matter.
still how can we justify requiring armed service for citizenship when we don't require it of everyone.
how many ivy-league-larvae, like bush, do you know that had to serve in order to acquire their rights as citizens.
the poor go to war, as they alwasy have...
if you want to innact the rule of service = citizenship
than let's be sure that includes all individuals: rich, poor, male, female, gay, straight, smart, and dumb! |

Um, not sure where you drdged up that drivel. Most hispanics are caucasion, I think.
And what is this business of conquoring populations? |

This does seem to be aimed as a solution for Mexicans immigration. What about Iraqi refugees, send them back to fight?
I kinda agree with jhaelin, there are many ways you can serve your country and many of these immigrants are not fit for service and probably have poor English skills. They also shouldn't be punished for been poor. Maybe a community service fast track to citizenship is needed. |
