one thing I notice is that there doesn't seem to be as much education/social awareness about tooth carehere as compared to the US. I remember it as a kid.. they had, "mr molar".. .a giant tooth that would come and walk around and inform/scare you about proper tooth care and the dangers of plaque (sp?). never see anything like that in Korea.
I dont think its necessarily that good, though.. the dentists (and doctors) in the US create a false need for health care so they can line thier pockets with insurance payouts. They are influential in causing schools to scare kids into un-necessary dental care, I think.... |

My teeth are an ugly yellow, and my two front teeth look brown (they are capped cos I busted my teeth as a kid.) Tried the over-the counter-whitening thing; didn't work. My toothpaste always has whitener; doesn't work, so I doubt a sonic toothbrush would. I don't smoke, drink or have any kind of caffiene, don't take any medication or drink any soft drinks. I brush my teeth everyday, floss every other day, and it doesn't make much of a difference after I get them cleaned, either. It's not genetic; all of my family have nice white teeth.
Looks like I have to get those unnaturally white porcs. Anybody know any good dentists for that? I got quotes in England, but it would cost a bomb. How much is it over here? |

Unnecessary? It's funny because the majority of the people in this thread are talking about how nice American teeth are in general.. Perhaps it has something to do with good dental care, from habits instilled as a child.
The idea that doctors and dentists create false needs to drum up business from insurance payouts is absurd. It's like saying Oncologists purposely want people to get cancer just so they can make money. I've known many oncologists in my university days and every one of them would rather be out of business than have people with cancer.. |

Only those with dental care or who naturally have good teeth have pearly whites. Most people in America seem to not have dental care from first hand experience of living there. I didn't have it either while growing up poor, living paycheck to paycheck, and budgeting just to survive. Dental care is very expensive and it tends to be that bills exceed income for many so going to a dentist is usually only done when an absess occurs. That is to get the tooth pulled for about $100 US which is a huge financial setback for many only earning about $300 per week with no benefits. If you have the money, the very best of everything is available in America. This is what makes living in America so highly coveted to the world. The images on TV sure do the trick of selling our country to the world.
People pay big money to look good in order to dress for success and often starve in saving up for these image upgrades. Looking good demonstrates an individual is serious about being successful. Image is very important in America just as it is in Korea in order to be successful and favored by many.
What you see on TV is an example of a small segment of the population that really doesn't represent the whole in truth. |

i have fangs and they are cool imo
re: the OP about how people on American Idol and Reality shows have pearly whites do you not think that is just who gets picked for American Idol rather than any sort of reality
remember the stereotype of americans is also the buck tooth redneck with huge yellow teeth, and I bet there are more of them than model types, just that they don't get on TV, same as that not all english people are polite, wealthy and charming like hugh grant
but one of my plans for my savings while i'm here is to get my teeth sorted out |

If you want the bright, white teeth you see on TV use the "Zoom" whitening treatment.
My current boss is a former dentist and he, and his perfectly white-teethed pals, swear by it.

i think having your smile widened (cosmetically) is also very popular, and gives off the appearance of having many more amazingly white teeth than your average joe.
i hate my teeth, chipped from tongue piercing & filled with british NHS silver fillings. i cringe when i look at photos. would consider porcelain veneers. does anyone know if they have an infinite shelf-life or do they have to be replaced every few years? that would obviously increase the cost dramatically. |

Do K. dentists do the procedure here? I suspect the website is only for people in the US. |

Well I hate my teeth as I do my offensive eyelids. So my friend hooked up online with this guy.. seemed as everything was all good..but his teeth... but i can tell you what, when you meet online, what is the chances that when the relationship starts going down, that one person in the relationship or both turn back to the internet to get hooked up again? my friend is beautiful and there really wasnt an interests to hook up via the computer. She just so happened to be signed on because her friend that she was good friends with was using that source for her life and insisted that she just try it.. so she did.... however, She has many many friends and can get anyone she wants even with her little baggage.... on the other hand, the other person involved rely's on internet match sights to "hook up".. so he did... so in the duration of the relationship, he defaulted back to the internet and i am sure you can guess what happened next...
my friend learned the hard way... but she is ok now... the guy is much of an addict to the computer.....sad that he had to default to that...they were very compatible and cute together.... |

Seoulfinn posted this on page one, and I found it informative.

| I just called Modern Dental Clinic (advertised in the Groove) and they do Zoom whitening for $650,000 (including teeth cleaning). Has anyone had it done here? Does it work? |
