Not a chance.
Nashville's team is either going (a) to southern Ontario thanks to the rich Berry tech guy; (b) to Vegas thanks to rish hockey nut hollywood director Bruckheimer; or (c) nowhere, thanks to sufficient ticket sales to extend their stay and give more years to try and prime the country music capital's pump.
Kansas City however is believed to be the leading candidate to get one of two expansion teams expected to be announced this summer.
Go to hfboards.com for links to pertinent story threads (especially on the business board there). I have over 5000 posts there as, what else, VanIslander! if you join the conversation there, say hello. it is by far the most used hockey boards on the planet, in fact it has more users per minute than Dave's gets in a day. It's a monster of a site. Wonderful for us hockey nuts. |

Well, there were talks about Nashville going there before Ballsie put an offer for the team. At any rate, if Kansas gets a team, they're another city that had a team and lost it. That's the point I was getting at.
Also, the NHL said that there won't be a team in Las Vegas anytime soon. |

Possibly, but successful enough to overcome the monetary penalty of having not only one team already within close proximity, but TWO (Toronto and Buffalo). That was the main reason such expansion in the past killed the idea. The money they have to fork over in penalties was too much. |

Kansas City will just be a joke, I was horrified when they were talking about the Pens going there this season. They really should be working on the teams they have now instead of more expansion. The playoffs already go almost into June as it is, and as much as I love hockey and seeing it played late into spring, I just don't think further dilution of the talent is the answer to their problems. |
