I could be wrong, but I think all Cowon players have jet effects. Another thing, you are probably not going to be able to tell the difference in sound quality unless you are a total audiophile (and invest in some high-end earphones), and if that were the case, we'd be asking you the questions.

D2 has jet effect, which is basically sound settings based on the settings of the equaliser, BBE, Mach3Bass, 3D surround and Stereo enhance. They do make a big difference in the overall sound and is the difference between Cowon and other brands.

I htink you guys should wait for the bigger D2s to come (in September I heard). I wish the Archos was sold here, anyone got one?

If anyone can convince me that the audio component is the same as the D2 then I'd go w/ the D2.

spliff, the iAudio7 is the replacement for the iAudio6, which was the first hard disk based MP3 player but wasn't all that successful. The 7 uses flash memory storage which is a lot easier on the battery.

If you compare the sound quality with the X5 (a much bigger and heavier player), both D2 and i7 aren't as good but they are all more or less the same with some configuration.

After looking at the screenshots of the i7, I like the D2 a lot better.

Have you considered the Zune?

I heard that the internal storage on the D2 will remain 4GB but with the SD expansion and firmware updates, the sky is the limit. I just bought the D2 from the states and an 8GB SD card so I'm up to 12GB. I've heard that 32GB SD cards (about USD450) are already available so basically we're waiting for the firmware update.

I just went to Amazon and bought it. Now, if you don't want to be on the hook for the tax, have it repackaged. Also, they wouldn't send the SD card so I had to have that sent to my family who will forward it to me. Should arrive in less than a week.

How much do you figure you saved, if any, from buying overseas...shipping charges must come into play a little I would guess? And, would have to wait and there is always the danger of it getting lost or stolen.

Here's what it costs using Amazon:

Item Subtotal: $190.48
Shipping & Handling: $9.47
Import Fees Deposit: $10.00
Total: $209.95

Paid by Visa: $209.95

So, a total of W193,000 for the Cowon D2 4GB model.

It was shipped on the 16th and it should arrive on the 19th. Oh, BTW, I'm in Japan on holiday so I had it shipped here, not Korea. And, like I said, I also bought an 8GB SD card (unable to ship overseas) for $79. It's a Trascend 8GB class 6 card.

I checked out Yongsan and Technomart in Seoul and the cheapest I could get them down to for the 4GB D2 was W235,000, so I figure I saved about $45. Plus, I get the English manual not that cr@ppy condensed version they offer in Korea or via download.

Well done.

I'm getting more and more interested myself in just buying from overseas suppliers who will ship to Korea.

So many electrical goods are vastly overpriced in Korea.

Now, will newegg.com ship to Korea..........?

Yes, I shipped to Japan NOT Korea. If you ship to Korea you must pay VAT on orders over USD150, something like 15%. Have it sent to someone else and forwarded to you in Korea. The shipping price to Korea wasn't much more expensive (I checked), something like USD8.
