There are different states/qualities of sleep, influenced by weather, diet, amount of physical exercise, stress and mental activity, sleeping environment etc.

I get 8 hours of 'sleep'...I reckon at least an hour of that is in a wakeful sleepy type state.

Too much sleep can make you sleepy and then you'll automatically think "I didn't get enough sleep".

I'm more wakeful after 8 hours sleep than after 10.

Lol Very Happy

I think for me personally, sleep is overrated.im 25yrs old and as far as i can remember (the last 10yrs) ive been sleeping for around3/4 hours a night, sometimes i wont sleep at all at night, and then sleep the following night, my body is in tune with this now,and i do have a longer day and sometimes dread night time!

Everyone's different,some need/want 8hours others are cool with 4 Very Happy

Napoleon thought men were pussies if they had more than 4 hours sleep.

I'd like to see him say that to my face.

I don't think age has anything to do with it. I've ALWAYS been one to love my sleep. Even in my teens I slept like a log. Still do. I can stay up all night, but then I play sleep catch up. I love sleeping in on Sat. and Sun., too. Taking naps is heaven!

Some kids (people) have an aptitude for learning and some don't, sleep or no sleep. Take two kids who have an optimal sleep time of 7 hours. One has a high aptitude for learning and the other a low aptitude. Even if the high aptitude kid only gets 4 hours a night, he will still outperform the lower aptitude kid who gets 7 hours of sleep. It all depends on your aptitude and drive.

That said, I still think getting optimal sleep--whatever that may be for each individual--is important. It won't raise the aptitude of the student, but it may help him perform at his peak.

Anyway, I like sleeping.
