It was not shot by KBS, though they aired it. It was shot by Voice of People, an activist media group. |
A cameraman with a KBS jacket is clearly visible during the event. While the video wasn't from them, KBS was on the scene filming their own footage. |
i saw it too |
Okay. I couldn't get all the video since I'm at home. (56k only - no VDSL yet) I was going off the info panel at the bottom of the video.
My guess? The group called KBS and invited them, much as protest groups will do in the US (and elsewhere), in order to get coverage for the "cause." |

I hope no one complains when someone gets seriously injured or killed during one of these protests. |

Anyone else impressed by the restraint shown by those soldiers - especially after the protesters sprinted off to climb on those vehicles? |

The depth of the brainwashed ignorance on display here is so profound it's disturbing. People should at least be educated on history, politics and economics before they are allowed to protest. Sure, there's a right to protest, but if you're a single cell organism and not really a thinking person, maybe that right should be curtailed. |

Just more illustrations as to why Koreans are just too darn stupid to survive by themselves. I'm not impressed with this thankless, backwards, idiotic culture called Korea. It's no wonder they have been controlled and ruled by other countries for so long. For all of the time they spend studying, they are the DUMBEST people on the face of the Earth.
There should be a national vote, and if the vote for it, the USA should move the troops out. Then if the North attacks, it's all South Korea's fault. Even still, I'm sure they'll start crying "America abandoned us!!!!!"
What a spineless, brainless people!
And to those of you who say, "If that's the way you feel -- get the heck out....", I will. But not after I have made a bundle of cash and had some fun along the way. |

Right here.
On a related note, is anyone impressed by the ear-shattering shrieks by that girl in the red T-shirt gave out when they tried to take her American flag? I could imagine dogs covering their ears in pain. |

Hi Gollum,
I am personally DISGUSTED after having read about these hate-monger,idiotic,disrespectful,ungrateful,and lunatic Goreans and what they've done after UNLAWFULLY entering the U.S. bases!! Forget about a national vote!!!!! Pull the U.S. troops!!NOW!!I wish every American could see the stated video coverage! |
So when American's pull the same stunt in America, should we pull those bases too? Just curious, because this is hardly a Korean exclusive act. |

Gord, protesting is not Korea exclusive.
But, does the US have a foreign military force with bases that is protecting them from certain destruction, and with whose help have been able to go from a peasant/farming third-world situation to a ( somewhat ) modern economy in the shortest time ever recorded, allowing a massive leap in prosperity and standard of living for all? Is this the case in the US too? I was unaware of that. |

Gotta go along with Gord here.
It was a protest by a bunch of friggin' college kids for God's sake! The perps were arrested, and it sounds like they are being duly punished. What's the big deal?
By the way: Can anyone imagine how the British would be carrying on if there were 37 000 American troops marching through the streets of London? |

I can't can't, neither can I imagine what would happen if there were 37 000 US troups marching through the streets of Seoul as that has never happened. And the Brits don't need anyone to protect them from a hostile neighbour, nor have they required anyone to assist them in going from peasants to the fastest growing economy in the area. Chalk and cheese. |

No. They defeated the Nazis single-handedly with no help from anyone. And their current participation in NATO is simply an excuse for their diplomats to travel the world.
Many, if not most, of the British people I've met harbour some resentment about their nation's entanglement with US foreign policy. Understandably so, even if that entanglement works to their overall advantage. My point is that British attitudes would be much the same as Korean ones, if the troop presence were as great. |

And if there is another world war I'd expect the Brits and US to happily join together again.

It would never be that great except under extreme circumstances, and the brittish population would be far more aware of the reasons they were there and would not be anti, as long as the reasons were clear and there was a need for it. I have spoken to may many brits myself, none of them resent any so-called entanglement with the US.
This is a simple case of "We're weak, and need your help desperately, but we're so immature that we're also ashamed and offended that we need it. We'd like to think we can do it on our own, though of course we can't. If you left we would be destroyed and then subsumed into a brutal regime that would knock us back to the stone-age. And though we don't fancy rat-meat for dinner anytime soon, we don't like countries who help us because in the course of that help it becomes very clear how weak and backwards we are. We know you pumped 65 billion into our economy, and that makes our amazing progress a little artificial and fragile. We know we have benefitted massively from trade agreements with our benefactor, while being allowed to keep on heavily protecting our own economy, we hope this will continue, but our hot-headed nationalistic pride just obscures our view of the big picture sometimes, we don't know what side our bread's buttered on, and our immature outbursts are just part of our wonderful passionate culture. We love to say we're big on learning, but are phenominally ignorant of the world outside our doorstep, we particulaarly struggle with the mechanics of international economics. And we are so incredibly ignorant and naive that feel it is an insult to have an "unequal" relationship with our benefactor, not realising that every country in the world has an unequal relationship with our benefactor, and that at the least we could have a very powerful ally if we could just realise how very good it is for us to have the support of our benefactor." |

Might I offer a simple solution that works with brats the world over?
It's called: drop trou/touch toes. Ever hear of it?
To lessen the impact of negative reactions against the government, I will deliver the strokes myself. |
