My previous boyfriend practised the 'Withdrawal' method for around 3 years. He seriously didn't believe that he could get a girl pregnant like that. Idiot!! The little blighters bust out beforehand! God knows how he didn't end up with any illegitimate sprogs.
Thanks for your concerns, but I've tried a number of different contraceptive pills and it always seems to be the oestrogen only ones that mess me up. I normally know whether they're going to be bad for me within the first few weeks.
I know I shouldn't be sticking synthetic hormones in my body. Then again, people ought not stick a lot of things in their bodies. Condoms are way too fiddly and interruptive in a serious releationship. Not not it makes any difference anyway, as my chances of meeting any nice Western men here that aren't from care in the community, or even worse, American soldiers, is approximately, a big fat zero.

You might think that was a funny comment, but were Emma Clare a Korean girl, I doubt you would have made it. Grow up. |

Horrible lies. I would have asked regardless. "Excuse me, can I please see you picture?" It does not fall under being an offensive comment.
Lacking a camera, I could even provide mine if needed. Then post up pictures like this!
She's lovely, isn't she? |

If you need so badly to see your picture then PM her about it. No one cares to read your lustful, sad attempts to get some. Except for the fact that you're not a Kiwi I'd think you were that creepy coworker who is always coming on to the other girls. Why do you think that your requests for a picture belong in a discussion on contraceptives? |

Lambskin is not as good as latex in preventing STDs etc. |
Actually, lambskin condoms make no claims of preventing STDs at all.
And latex condoms don't really protect against all STDs. Genital herpes and genital warts are two obvious ones. Kind of depressing, huh? |
Actually, I had heard that, about both kinds of condoms, but wasn't so sure, so I didn't include that in my soapbox Tour De Force.
It sure is damn depressing. I was reading something once about that, how even using condoms doesn't prevent all STDs from spreading, and I was just like "Cripes, I might as well live the life of a nun!" LOL Then I got a grip...
Oh, and just for clarification, Canuckistan, Mokpochica DID NOT say she is no longer getting her period, but that she is against taking the pill continuously, thereby skipping periods. Just wanted to right that misunderstanding as I saw it just now.
I can understand what you mean about the West becoming too much of a "take a pill to fix your problem" kind of culture, especially when it comes down to talking about things like anti-depressants, but don't feel the same way when it comes to birth control. For the first example, taking a pill might used in place of figuring out WHY you are so depressed and not allow you to express a healthy range of emotions, such as anger and sadness. Taking birth control, I just see that as more of a preventative measure, and a pretty smart choice, unless you are over 35 or a smoker, for example.
EDIT (for Corporal): Maybe if we just start taking about our periods, we can root out all the guys hot for pics of Emma Clare! |

Weren't they developing a male pill of some kind? I think I read something about that a long time ago. It's only fair that they develop that if there's also a female condom on the market (which by the way, just LOOKS positively awful)!
I read your earlier post as a misunderstanding, then reread it and said "hm, maybe not," but then got caught up in the Beatle-off in the Off-Topic Forum to do anything about it.

Since there are so many men on this board, and they make up 50% of our "sex-is-great" fun why don't we ask them to take some sort of honest poll etc about birth control... hee hee....
Could someone start a thread? I just wouldn't know how to word it without scaring the beejeesus out of them.... c'mon girls, let's see how forthcoming (no pun intended) they are about the whole thing. |

The male pill is being tested/developed at the University of Washington (Seattle) right now. Other places may be working on it as well. The UW program has guys take a trial pill (one of several varieties being tested) for 8 weeks. During the 8 weeks, regular visits are made to check for changes in blood chemistry, hormone levels and even changes in testicle size & shape. At the end of the 8 weeks participants receive a vasectomy. At that time, a small sliver, about half the size of a pea, is removed from one testicle so tests for changes in the tissue can be done. Plus, participants receive about $150 for the time and troubles.
I know all this because I looked into becoming a test subject when I was home this summer. I passed on it, not because I didn't like any of the aspects of the study or procedures, but becuase I wouldn't be home long enough for the 8 week study, plus the addition 6 weeks after the snip to make sure it went well. Went for the plain old snip instead. Had to pay for it out of pocket ($550), but it was worth it. |

There are a lot of ideas out there for male contraceptives. Check out
www.malecontraceptives.org. The shug and suspensory briefs are particularly exciting.
It would be great if something as simple as placing low tempreatrues of heat towards sensitive parts of the body could be an effective birth control measure. |

I have been on depo for about 8 years, since having cancer and cycle repercussions. Side effects, none except a bit of a headache a day or so after the shot. I would not recommend it for anyone who wants children (i already have mine), it can leave you with problems conceiving or sterile. also you have to make sure you have regular breast checks. i had a cyst that i was told could be due to it. There are many reports of long term problems, I obviously am not concerned, but do your research, don't listen to anyone, you need to be prepared to take any attached risks.
It is a personal choice and some will have many side effects, lucky ones like me few or none. As a birth control, not relevant for me, but be careful cause there can be issues, if you have a brain, you will be using a condom anyway. I am surprised there are any men in Korea that any woman wants to sleep with, certainly none where I live.
Also, the injection does not hurt, it is 1ml or less, have them put it in your bottom, stand on opposite foot so you are relaxed at the site, no pain. The same goes for any im injection. |

I used to be on that damn thing and never will be again.
1) I felt really flat. I'll be the first to admit I go a bit psyhco at the wrong phase of the moon, but the depo also removed the feelings of highs. I felt like there were whole parts of my personality missing. From another prespective I suppose I got a window on what it's like to be a guy, in that I didn't have this vast range of emotions that I had pre injection.
2) This sounds bizzare but I need my almost montly visit from aunt rose. My body felt all weird without it and I had a killer one after I finished up on.
These are just my expereiences, lets remember that everyone has different reactions and what works for me won't always be the same for you.
