"Blonde" is a reference to her ethnicity more so that "nappy-headed hoe" is a reference to a black woman's ethnicity. There's no way she would be ripped into with such ferocity if she was a member of any other ethnic group.
Race aside, isn't it bad enough the poor girl made a fool of herself in front of so many people? It's easy to lose your train of thought when you're nervous and in front of an audience. I can't see why people get such pleasure out of observing someone else's pain. |

she doesn't look like she's in pain. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for someone who CHOSE to go on and participate in the event.
you should watch her interview on the today show the following monday. She sounds super annoying. |

| I used to work with a black girl with blonde hair, and her nickname was "the dumb blonde" because she was, not to put too fine a point on it, dumb. She was called this by black, white and asian staff (my old work place was very multi cultural). |

Yeah, the idea that whites are immune to stereotypes is nonsense. Maybe we don't have it as bad as Asians who are stereotyped as excellent students, trustworthy and kind (but totally unable to drive or walk without bumping into people) but who does have it worse than them?
But me, as a grown man, am able to take it. I'm actually called "white boy" at work buy my Asian peers from time to time. But again, as a grown man, I get over it. I'm not going to act like an Angry Asian Male and spend my life crying about white people asking me "where are you from".
I like country music, half-ton trucks, guns, Star Wars and the rest. I hunt. I do my homework and am focused on my career. I eat bland food and can't dance. I think Homer is funny. I didn't know or care much about other nations until I left my own and when I go back to my own I'll prolly stop caring about the rest of the world again. I like Stephen Harper cause he looks like a dude who can get things done. I drive the speed limit. I say please and thank you 100 times a day. I'm cheap beyond words, and getting more so every day. I like gadgets I don't need. When I wear a baseball cap it is always a half on my head and half off, never pulled down tight. I once had a mullet. Loud people make me uncomfortable. I'm a stereotypical uptight white male.
So, when I get called out for being an uptight White I just agree. I am who I am. *beep* Yeah I can't dance. So what? Embrace what you are.
So, to JAD, if you are an Angry Asian American, embrace it. Admit it. Cause we don't care about you.
About the OP. The girl is 16. How articulate were all of you at that age? Geeze. 16 and on national TV being graded in every way. Of course she slipped up. Have a good laugh and move on. |

What many of the posts here demonstrates is that some posters will go to any length to find an excuse to chastise or ridicule Americans. Doesn't matter to them if the sacrificial lamb is a 16 year-old.

Last week's (Aug 31) 'Real Time with Bill Maher' touched on this story. They ran the clip of Miss South Carolina, then they ran a clip of President Bush trying to define 'sovereignty'.
If it were a contest, I'd have to give the win to the blonde, by a nose.
It was pretty funny. |
