Too bad you don't have some way of showing your work, so that others can see how good of a job you do. That could help you drum up some business. I would also add to the title that you are experienced at it. It might make it sound less strange.

When I was new to the cosmetology business I did have a portfolio of work. Unfortunately, the industry isn't as professional as one would expect it to be. I can't imagine a fashion designer, artist, engineer, etc showing up to a job interview without one. Sadly, in many hair salons your just expected to come to an interview with a model and give a haircut and at some it isn't even required. When I was first in the job market I'd always hand over my training certificates and photographs just to have them thrown back to me without even being looked at. Simply put, too many salons want monkeys to cut hair Shocked ...............SOUND FAMILIAR????????????

Man, imagine being an awesome hairdresser but living in a place with crappy hairdressers.

Do/can you cut your own hair?

As someone whose mother ( a stylist) cut his hair forever I can appreciate this post.

I've got a double crown, a cowlick, and one side that grows forward while the other grows towards the back. I've tried in vain to explain how to cut my hair, but the ding-dongs here insist on making me look like one of the Beatles crossed with G.I. Joe.

I actually resorted to an electric buzzer for a time as I was so fed up with the 'talent' here. I then went back and got a decent cut from my mom. Upon returning I went to the oldest local I could find and told her to take a look at my cut. It was for naught as I still came out with a quasi-Mao doo.

They've got this sense of balance here that is stolid. The basic cut is given, and the rest is shaping to 'balance'. This is OK for Koreans as they've got hair that's as coarse and straight as a horse's.

Granted most can deal with this, but someone who actually has the talent to adapt to the different type of hair that non-Koreans have is someone to be sought out (in my case).

I do not cut my own hair. I've tried and failed becuase I can't see the back and I can't get my hands and scissors at the right angle. Instead I pay to get it done. The only half decent stylist I've found here charges 180.000 for a cut and color. As a colorist she's fantastic but as a cutter she's barely above Korean average. Sad

I hardly think you are wierd for your unusual postings. I have posted an unusual request too, for a kayak. This forum is to help teachers across Korea to obtain what ever it is they need and want. And I am sure you have the best intentions in offering a haircut (without the rub or happy ending that others presume will follow) in exchange for goods that I assume are not nearly as easy to come by in Korea? Chin up.

Personally, I need a haircut and I've been dying for a good stylist that won't cost an arm and a leg. I don't, however, live in Incheon, nor would I be inclined to travel that far. If you ever set up a cutting session somewhere near the Gangnam area, let me know. I would probably be interested in being part of that group.
