When the US is driven from the country it will be beginning of their new country (what that will be, shiite theocracy, sunni secular-dictatorship, democracy, etc we don't know). Much the same way that Vietnam is directed and driven by its a$$ kicking of the US in its war.

The modern Iraq, they one our grandchildren will know will formally begin the day the Americans are driven. A country cannot be a country with an occupying force.

Insofar as the Iraqis are kicking Americans asses they are useful for you. I mean, why else bring up the Vietnamese? Why not bring up the American ass-kicking of the Commonwealth?

Don't get me wrong, you're free to use the Iraqis' success as a way to wave your cock about against the US. You wouldn't be the first! But you would break with many on this board who actually lament the US' presence in Iraq as being detrimental to Iraqis.

The insurgents are not a monolithic force, as Ersatzprof used to always say. They have different goals and aims. And when the US is gone, and the US will leave soon, they'll kill each other over their goals.

Al Qaeda won. Let me elaborate unless you jump to some silly conclusions about what you think I'm trying to say here. That mosque in Samarra? When Al Qaeda took it down, the Shi'a lost their patience. They lost their ability to inherit what was coming. Instead they went over to dispatching death squads into drilling holes in the heads of random Sunnis. Its partly our fault. We should have left while the Shi'a had held their temper.

Of course you could actually believe that the 'insurgents' are wearing some glorious white-hats against the evil American storm-troopers. But nobody at your age could be that friggin clueless.

The insurgents are not a monothlic force I understand that. My point is that for Iraq, as for most countries born out of conflict (the USA, Vietnam, etc) they will never stop.

If its about AQ, well they are only there cause the US is there. If the US turned the country over to the Shiites tomorrow AQ would be gone. But the US won't do that cause they don't want a Shiite/Iran alliance.

Even now, the Sunni partnership with the USA to defeat AQ is clearly an attempt by the Sunni's to buy some long term protection or even backing for a coup and a return to Sunni secularism.

The point is that as long as the US is there people will continue to kill them, not because they Americans but because they are invaders.

And please don't be so "clueless" as to believe that the noble US is there for secular democracy cause I wouldn't think someone at your age could be that clueless.
