| 30 million quid for Milner? Villa must have been watching a different world cup to everyone else. For that cash, you could scout Latin America and buy 3 or 4 much better players. |

The pre-tournament favourites Spain made it to the final, so no massive surprises there. I had touted Holland as my dark horse because of the players they have in their squad. However, I didn't actually think they'd get this far because dark horses rarely win anything. I thought it would be a Spain-Brazil final.
Anyway, I think that Holland could give Spain a real run for their money. A few of the Dutch guys have played in Spain, so they are familiar with their players. |
I really thought Germany would triumph last night. A little disappointing and amazed that they folded so easy. Where was their fire, pace and conviction? Closed down by Spain's tight passes and posession.
Looks like I underestimated Spain. At this rate they are favorites going into the final because Holland put in a poor showing against Uruguay I think. The 3-2 scoreline doesn't really reflect the fact that the Dutch sat back, played defensive football and were practicaly sleepwalking through the match. They had played ten times better against brazil. |

Exactly. Although with the new rules about homegrown players that will be harder to do in future. |

This might be because a) he is actually quality, was about the only threat we had all tournament and will be an England player for years, or b) because Man City are showing interest! If Man City want your player you can double your players value.. |

| Where does Milner play in a 4231? I assume Man City play some variant of that. Some of the players Man City are buying, I just don't know where they fit in. |

Germany palyed a good game, and they should be proud. They are just young and they've done really well against more experienced teams. I believe that if Muller had been able to play that match, Germany would have got through. Germany set this tournament on fire - and played some thrilling football. We've not seen the last of these young uns. Spain had disappointed me all through the tournament up until that match - where they finally pulled it out. Some great stuff from both sides. Someone has to lose - and it doesn't mean they're crap.
I was kind of hoping for Holland (usually one of my favourites) to win this cup - but now Spain are in the final, I don't really mind. I can sit back as a neutral and just enjoy some fantastic football.
I'm also looking forward to seeing Forlan play Germany - hehe. |

I see the tabloids labelled him "a cross-eyed, girlish vulture". lol.
Seriously though he has been the backbone of the Uruguay team. personally I want germany to hammer them because I disliked the suarez handball. |

I see Paul the psychic octopus has ignored the death threats and bravely selected Spain to triumph in the WC final. Will he finish the world cup with his 100% record intact?
This cephalopod mollusk is now a national hero (death threats aside), and is fast becoming a global celebrity among his octopi brethren...

Octopii are attracted to warm colors, they ignore cold colours.
You will notice that octopii communicate with eachother by changing colour.
This is why the octopus ignored the black and blue flag of argentina on the side of the tank and went for the yellow (and black) of germany.
When faced with spains bright red and yellow though, of course it will pick that over germany or hollands colours. |

| Im almost glad that the World Cup is finishing. Then we can get back to the Premiership. Never in my life have I heard such a load of shit. After Germany won 4-0 against Australia, everyone said "Oh Germany will probably win it then", then when Brazil won their first game "Brazil are going to win it". God. I have a friend at work, the most miserable bastard youll ever meet, and he asked me about the semi. I said I thought Spain would win, and he said "No Germany are going to win, they beat England and Argentina so obviously theyre going to win" going on what he had been watching, no knowledge at all. This was after he decided Argentina would win after winning 4-1 against shitty South Korea. Ill be glad to ditch all the hangers on |

It's a world cup? I thought what I'm watching was a cup of urine.

Octopuses/Octopodes* Octopii is severely wrong. Very common mistake, it feels natural to call it that. |

Yes, but I'm annoyed it's gone into extra time because I'm tired and want to go to bed.
Netherlands should have had a player sent off in the first half. |
