That's the worst one, hands down. |
i just went to the yangjae one, and it's the exact same as sangbong. |
Despite living closer to Sangbong, I stopped going there a good three years ago. I found the place to be more crowded, the customers were ruder and pushier than what you see at your average Homeplus/Emart/Lottemart, the parking situation was plain awful, and the selection was somewhat limited when compared to the other three Seoul area Costcos. Again, I haven't been since 2008, so the selection problem has probably been resolved. I doubt the parking and crowds have though, especially in light of the increasing popularity of Costco.
I do agree that Ilsan is the best, but it has a lot to do with the ease in driving there. It's right near the Seoul Beltway and there's more parking.
I have a buddy who swears by Youngdeungpo because of the location of the food court. It's all about preferences. With the said, everyone I know who has the ability prefers locations other than Sangbong. |

I tried to go to the food court and pick up just a couple miscellaneous things today at Youngdeungpo Costco, but there was a huge line to get down to the lower level.
My general rule of never going on a weekend is getting further solidified... |

Hello everyone!
So I am residing in Yangjae right now and am strongly considering gettting a costco membership. My main questions about Costco in Korea is....do they have as much of a produce section as they do back home?
I can't seem to find a great place to buy my two staples in my diet: Spinach and Romaine Lettuce. PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me I can buy them in bulk here.
If not, perhaps, another place to recommend which has lots of produce (hopefully not TOO pricey).
Thanks in advance! |

Seriously? You can buy spinach at literally every vegetable vendor, market and bigger mart. Its called 시금치. |

Second that, and the lettuce labelled "청상추" that you can find at most mid-sized-and-up grocery stores is, if not actually romaine, close enough. |

Everything I have found in grocery/convenient stores are the size of my palm.....this also does not answer my question specifically about what Costco has in stock. |

COSTCO, meh where to begin...
What a poorly designed shopping experience, milk in one place, butter in another and cheese somewhere else. Nearly the same for all other goods. People complain that Koreans are rude and pushy in COSTCO but the poorly designed layout make it near impossible to watch were you are going, I've been to E-mart and Homeplus when it's been busy busy busy and Koreans are fine there, it's COSTCO's poor lay out that make people bump into you, if the shop actually had some logical design as to where they put stock there would be no problems.
Was worth the card for wine and hams, but the experience is not one I will repeat more than three times a year. |

You can't just buy a higher quantity of produce at your local grocery store? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but large chains like E-mart (and I'm assuming Costco) are the worst places to be buying produce. My girlfriend always discourages me from buying fruit or vegetables at E-mart, as it has always appeared to be true that it's lower quality and more expensive than at smaller, local places. I will also, somewhat begrudgingly, be reestablishing my Costco membership soon, mostly for a 37,500 won piece of pizza. |

Maybe E-Mart, but Costco stuff is good as is Homeplus and usually cheaper. Maybe you've just got some good local places. |

| Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, 5 avacado's for 11,000, frozen chicken including hot wings, and Orville Redenbacher Microwave popcorn. Do I need to go on? |

The problem with the avocados is that they all ripen simultaneously and you've got to eat an avocado a day for five days in a row.
I took a chance on the frozen potatoes au gratin. Not too bad. |

Mash, add lime juice (or lemon in a pinch), a bit of salt and a bit of olive oil. Then freeze in small servings, when you want some great guacamole just take it out of the freezer and let it thaw, add some onion, tomato, etc. Keeps for 6 months. |
