| I was on the fence, but I am leaning toward feeling sorry for him. I'm guessing that national health care in Korea doesn't cover mental illness, and carbon can't afford to pay for it out of pocket. |

Aren't you the guy who selectively went through years of my posting history to prove a point that was already well known to his friends who only lurk?

You give yourself too much credit, as usual. You are a one-trick pony; it takes very, very little time to see what you are (a succinct picture in this thread alone). Additionally, it really doesn't take much to set you off. A simple link from a site and away you go!
I see however, that I really got under your thin skin. That is quite comforting and to know that I affect you so deeply. I love your new location....very accurate, though I (we) particularly enjoyed your previous one.
Don't let me down now!

So only long-time members are allowed to do what you believe I am doing?
Whatever. Don't be naive; joined date means nothing. You of all people should know that. |

Why should I know that? As far as I know, you are a new member. Are you a previous member here? If so, why not use that account? |

One thing's for sure: Apple seems to inspire complete devotion or hatred. I suppose that's better than Microsoft, however, which can't seem to inspire anything but complete indifference.
Seriously, has Microsoft done one interesting thing in the past 10 years? And don't get me started on Samsung. If Samsung spent as much energy on R&D as they do on lobbying the Korean government to stall Apple products, maybe they could produce something original rather than grotesque imitations. Seriously, how can anyone defend these lame-ass companies? |

not just mac vs pc...
good article here about the psychology of fanboism.
http://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/05/19/fanboyism-and-brand-loyalty/
some of the actions fanbois get upto on this tech board are described to a t.
we all like to think of ourselves as rational choice makers...but maybe you've been branded! check it out. |

I am a new member, but what does that mean? And why is your first assumption that I am green or don't know the general rules of conduct for this and many other forums?
I have been in Korea almost assuredly longer than you (we have a mutual friend in real life, so I know this to be fact) and have been visiting Dave's since it began. Why would you know that? Wrong question. Why assume that that fact may not be both possible and true? A better starting point would be to steer clear of the condescending fatherly advice and treat everyone like an equal.
I do. I crap on morons indiscriminately. |

I made no assumptions other that you being (fairly) newly joined... Which is obvious from your join date. If you wish to go around "crapping on morons indiscriminately", go at it. I'm sure you'll get mod smacked soon enough.
As for our supposed mutual friend, be sure to tell him never to introduce us. I want nothing to do with you.
Enjoy your forum "crapping" |

Then why even bring it up? Seriously? You two are supposedly interested enough in me to talk about me...and mention it here now... Yet you don't want to meet me.
Seriously, wtf is your point? Why even mention something so odd?
Personally, I think you're BSing. Any friend of mine who says shit behind my back is no friend. You guys can have fun playing with each other and "crapping" on this forum and such. |

to be fair carbon is abit obsessive against mac owners. and before i get attacked im an android phone (galaxy s) owner..a pc owner (i like playing shooters!) and ipad owner. i also own a xbox 360 n ps3. go figure!
i just dont get this need to defend companies or attack others. go with what is great/useful for u. f*&k everyone elses thinking.
at the end of the day all companies play dirty, especially money wise, when they're in the position to do so. any other thinking is naive. every industry, tech or otherwise has its fair share of dirty tactics. don't be loyal to a company but just celebrate great tech which i think we're all fans of, but it should not be to the point u become a blind disciple of its marketing spin. |

| That's the way I've always seen it - go with the product/company that suits your needs best. Heck, mix and match if need be. |

Why is it that when one defends their choices or participates in an argument about merits of one type of tech over another, they are seen to be defending a COMPANY or being loyal to them? Hell, I used to argue against Apple years ago when some colleagues and friends switched.
I like arguing for the sake of it, to tell you the truth. Being married to a Korean and being immersed in all things Korean, i get a much needed jolt from arguing in English.
Its when massively uninformed posters such as Carbon enter the fray, who clearly have nothing to more to offer than middle-school level insults, that's when things spiral out fast.
Choices are made for personal and practical reasons.... attacking those choices with ad hominem is pure idiocy. But, I have to admit, its also fun showcasing the ignorance in people like that. |
