And newsflash guys- In 10-20 years, both of you are going to start the long decline in appearance and health. She's going to look like an adjuma and one of you might develop significant health problems and if they aren't loyal, they might leave you.

Marriage isn't about finding some hot angel. Time doesn't stop. It's about loyalty, long-term compatibility, and parenting.

A lot of comments out there make me seriously wonder about people's concepts of relationship.

And wouldn't the fact that they want to date western guys suggest that they are not enamored with that behavior anyway? Besides, I think you are over-stating that behavior, at least for the younger Korean guys. Have you been to a college campus and seen the guys there? They are hardly macho alpha males.

Yes, I implied you had this attitude because you were having no luck with Korean women and were suffering from sour grapes. But that does not translate into me thinking you had an ugly girlfriend.(by the way, you are a bit of a misogynist, aren't you, referring to women as dogs and dirty bitches). I am sure she is lovely(seriously). And speaking of the compatibility issue, lucky for you it sounds as if she likes a partner who is a prissy antiseptic Little Lord Faunterloy type.

My wife doesn't have a sister. She does have a brother but he is quite well educated, an MD, and very well mannered, spent some time in the upper society of Europe.

I never claimed that all K women or men are spitters, etc. As a matter of fact, I wasn't claiming any group of people have a monopoly on bad manners. I was simply suggesting that I couldn't understand how any person would be interested in dating or marrying another person who isn't well mannered.

I just wanted to pick up on one tiny point you made. Yes, Ive seen the feminine looking, make up wearing, perfectly quaffered hair looking young stallions youre refering to. Theyre beautiful and not at all adjoshi looking by all first impressions. However;

All in the company of their girlfriends.

Ive stood next to them on the street when they're spitting (together). Ive heard the empty discussions they have. Ive witnessed the general puerile behaviour. I've also been told on numerous occasions how they like to get women drunk and take photos of them or take advantage of them. Ive seen (as you have) how vain they appear. Ive seen them getting blind drunk - regularly. Ive also seen them shitting behind cars/ pissing anywhere and everywhere. Ive seen them smoking and hawking up the mess together (males and females). Ive seen them physically fighting each other ( males and females separately and together). Ive seen them having a picnic in the park then leaving all the rubbish behind, strewn around. Ive seen them drive like assholes. Ive seen them eat like pigs at a trough. You could go on forever...

My conclusion from all this (and in reference to what you said about older adjoshis farting and not all people being like that), is that yes, they may be younger, but its a differnt type of unattractiveness. Alot of women seem accustomed to it and accepting of it. Alot of women are therefore doing it themselves (probably in clandestine because they want to give the outward appearance that they are ladies - and a lot of stupid people fall for that charade).

Ok le-paul, if that's your real name. I don't want to keep going back and forth with you. If you don't find Korean women attractive, it does not matter the reason-there's no accounting for taste-Disagreements about matters of taste can't be objectively resolved.
But it sounds like you just don't care much for the Korean people in general, men and women.

Yes, I just so happen to be married to a Korean women. And we make around 13-14 million a month.

Also, your observation about most Korean women toward men and job titles is pretty much 100% accurate.

I think a lot of guys who have been hanging around this board for many years are now married to a local. Some probably already had some earning potential thus the reason many are married to a Korean woman.

I think the job title correlation to ability to better mingle is universal. Not specific to Korean women. Back home, Joe the neurosurgeon will usually be favored over Joe the mechanic.

Unless Joe the neurosurgeon is a dork or poindexter and Joe the mechanic is ruggidly handsome and funny. A lot of women actually prefer a good looking guy with a half decent personality over someone nerdy and, without even if he makes good money (and lacking in those basic social skills).

Women married to these types are gold diggers. Older Korean women and some younger with a traditional Korean or Asian mindset have those gold digger tendencies in a much larger proportion than western women. But a lot of younger women, especially in Seoul, have more western mindsets, in this regard. An experienced playa buddy of mine put it to me like this. In Busan, the women are gold diggers. In Seoul, it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor if you're nice looking.

I recall dragging my ESL @$$ wearing sweatpants and warm winter high cut boots walking through Gangnam last winter when I visited Seoul and certaintly did get stared at and noticed by nice looking K chicks. I wasn't wearing a suit or a title around my neck. I chatted to a quite a few passing through. (I just don't go up there often cause I'm trying to save money for the time being.)

Heck, if you're really poor just marry a good looking single 30's or 40's K chick with a good job and then you're set. No busting your hump working umpteen hours a day and hustling to get money due to ridiculous living costs for families here.

I lived out in the country during my first 3 years here and got exposed to very traditional Korean thinking. In a nut shell, they are obsessed with money and status because their self esteem comes from trying to be better than someone else. They actually brag about certain features over and over again to try to convince others as much as themselves that their mundane life is actually a great one.

Basically, if you meet a K chick and she comes across as traditional, dump her like a hot potato and move on. There are lots and lots and lots with more western thinking. A lot of the younger ones are less obsessed with money and status like the older ones.

Even recently, I came across this pretty girl, maybe mid 20's. I could tell she had some traditional type thinking and was ready to keep my distance somewhat. But, she was a temporary co-worker so I had to deal with her some. She would always latch onto a trait or feature and then brag about it non stop like she had to convince herself more than me.

Her: "My boyfriend is 180 CM." (Arbitrary number in Korea.)

After several times,
Me: "I notice you never used the word handsome."

Her: --Pissed off and at a loss for words.

Another time, idiots not from our school using our parking lot so that the teachers can't find a place to park in the morning. Teachers complain to principal for a long time and nothing is done.
Eventually,
Me: "Quit being selfish, be considerate of other people, and stop parking here. This isn't your lot, idiot!" (I shouted to some folks who were walking away from their cars after illegally parking there.)

Her" "OMG, that's so brave of you."

Then, Her, lovey dovey towards me. (Could have hooked up.)

But, after witnessing a friend married to a traditional type of K chick with old fashioned Asian thinking for several years. (He was kind of rich compared to most English teachers.) I was like, uh-uh. I'm seriously surprised he waited so long to divorce and that he didn't off himself.

No matter how manipulative, how much they poor on the fake charm, and some even look sexy, run for your life from these types. You will not regret keeping your sanity. Just find a sexy one with a more modern mindset.

Totally agree with this. I've only had two solid K-GFs in my near 9 years here. The first was from Seoul and she was super-sweet and kind and... wow. But she lived in Seoul and I lived in Busan. Eventually the distance got in the way and we split. Then I started dating this Busan girl who was the 'smoking hot' type. Within a month of dating she showed up at my door with a suitcase and from that point on I took care of her. Three years of hot sex and arguments and me paying the bills. Heh.

I still live in Busan but seem to have aged out of dating range for any of the local girls. I get lots of compliments/looks from K-girls I meet and when the topics of age (late 30s) and job (hagwon) come up their eyes glaze over. I dig Korea, a lot, but Busan is a wasteland and I don't highly value the cold and crowds in Seoul (despite interest from a few girls up there).

Since those two I've had a variety of short relationships of the ESL variety. My favorite was this uber-hot French-Canadian girl... the total package... witty, smart, hot, kind, balanced attitude, generous spirit... but wait for it... she got deported for having trace amounts MJ in her blood. Yay Korea! Now she's married to a Taiwanese guy and they just had their first kid. Bravo my life.

I'm thinking it might be time to shuffle off the peninsula soon. Anyone got the skinny on Jeju? What about Gwangju?
