Sure, in another thread (maybe even this one), I believe I remarked that it's not easy here making a consistent run at ESL teaching at the university level. You have to stay on top of your game in terms of degrees and certs, and you have to keep your ear to the ground to find the longer term jobs with better conditions.
The examples posted just seem to reflect that even in the face of some change, some people are still cool with their jobs and haven't been shown the door, Yonsei and Korea U, in this case, being good examples. Pretty sure there are teachers at Sejong who have been there for at least 15 years!
Unless you get your Ph.D. and get tenured (if you're not performing, then you can still be cut up to that point, and that does happen, much like everywhere else in the world), there's always the chance that new management and/or budget considerations, real or perceived, will cause the axe to swing.
Think it was in the mid-late 90s that Konkuk had a huge program and was considered a pretty nice place to work. Then they cleaned house all of a sudden, started an institute, reduced salaries across the board, and pumped their English requirements throught that. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here. Still, there are a few positions in the actual department that are good if you can get one.
SNU USED TO BE the place to work. People were making great salaries (well above 4.0) for 12 contact hours (NO WRITING CLASSES before someone chimes in on the TRUE number of hours required), with housing free or supplemented (can't remember) and annual pay increases. THEN they cut wages, put in term limits, offered no pay increases and whatever else they did to drive out every single experienced teacher there. |

One buddy was just at K for a year and said it was pretty good. I know, vague, but this guy has been a professional university teacher with creds out the ying yang for at least 15 years. He recently left Korea to follow his gf and took a university job in a different country.

| Just posted 17 job ads with links on the 'University positions without Uni experience' thread. Yeah, I was bored. |

Hint: Universities that are constantly advertising, are probably schools that you would want to avoid. Unless you are really new and desperate for university teaching experience on your CV. |
