Or they could have just used the attacks to get America behind a Apollo-level effort to move the American economy off oil. I dunno you're expecting a lot from Bush. If he was so crafty, he would have prepared better for Iraq.
And back to peak oil. Shifting an economy causes some pain, no doubt, but there are lots of energy alternatives, as I've outlined above, that peak oil will make affordable. A nation of 180 million has already demonstrated it can make the switch to methanol with little fuss and muss. Do you seriously think the free market won't respond and come up with a solution? |
Did you read any of the links? Every argument you make was covered in them: ramping up takes too much time. The technology breakthroughs and applications came **before** crises occurred. Etc. But what we are talking about here is the possibility that Peak Oil has already occurred and the adjustments already being 25 years too late.
Should we already have reached Peak Oil, what is the solution for the economic shocks to come given we don't have the 10 - 25 years to develop and implement? |
