If we go back in US history we can find a time when big age differences in a relationship were much more socially acceptable.
Thomas Jefferson, third President of the US, impregnated a 15 year old girl when he was in his forties.
James Madison, fourth President of the US, dated a 15 year old girl when he was in his thirties.
John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court, married a 16 year old girl when he was in his thirties.
I suspect that largely because of hysteria about pedophiles people nowadays are much more likely to condemn such relationships even when both partners are adults as defined by modern day law as is the case in this thread. |

This statement caused me to do some investigation and if you read
the very in depth analysis given at this URL:
http://www.claremont.org/publications/crb/id.1015/article_detail.asp
You will see that it is not proven that Jefferson fathered this girl and
there are some real good arguments that he did not.

Of course she is happy! He will die soon and then she will still be young, pretty, and....richer than she was before.
