Seoul + sour cream = where? |
You can get Sour Cream at the Sensegei Supermarket in Kangnam Long distance bus terminal.
Large tortillas can be gotten at Costco
You can use common store boght red kidney beans, put them in a frying pan with some water, cook them down mashing them, put in some onions, then just buy some of the shelf Salsa and dump in like a quarter jar for one can of beans. 10 minute refried beans, very good. |

Casa Burrito out in Pyeongtaek is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Korea.
Their gochu is truly the spiciest!! |

I tried Casa Loca in Yeouido today. I walked to there from around the 63 building area. As I finally spotted it, it looked closed cuz the lights were dim inside! Initially I thought it was closed and I was pissed! Then I walked up further and saw someone inside.
I ordered flautas (6,500) and a Chicken Fajita (9,800).
The chips were pretty good, but the salsa didn't really taste like real mexican salsa. it tasted like there was a hint of something korean in it, still decent though.
the flautas were pretty good and so was the chicken fajita. My only complaint was the tortilla was really thin, a bit different than I expected since they bragged they made their own tortillas or whatever.
Wasn't authentic, but more authentic than taco bell. I'm just happy I finally got to eat some sort of mexican food. |
That resembles my experience there, and you hit on most of the things that I thought made the restaurant suck. I went during the cherry blossoms this spring. Only I was extremely disappointed. You're way better off at the place in Hongdae or the one in Shincheon. You're right about the salsa and the tortilla. The guacamole, which you do not mention, had oxidized, but I don't think that mattered cause it tasted like ... nothing. It didn't have that creamy avocado loveliness. Ah, well.
Casa Loca is almost a theme restaurant. It has all the visual markers of a western-style "Mexican" bar and grill, as well as some of the smells and a few of the flavors, but it doesn't come together into anything decent. Do not bother. Oh, and it's not even a good theme restaurant, as the decor is low-budget (despite the lighting) and in need of reworking. Plastic-looking plastic cacti, smudges all over the 'hip' white walls. Yes, there is a wall of signed photos of famous and semi-famous Koreans who ate there and said it was terrific, but they ate there because it's Yoido and there's a TV studio in the basement of the LG twin towers, not far away. |

Tacos turned out awesome, went out for drinks after it. Always share with the teachers and other higher-ups. My investment came back 10 fold. |

Alexandria's Cafe now offers authentic Mexican Food every day. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas etc.
It's in Haebangchon across from Indigo and next to Philly's. Take Noksapyeon line 6 exit 2 and walk straight (hanging to the left) for about 10 minutes. You will pass some kimchi pots and a preschool. Then Alexandria's is on the left.
It's open from 6PM to 6AM! |
