I'm only 2-months into my second contract. It sucks but there's no way I'll break my contract and run. You gotta take the rough with smooth and make the best of it. The social life; one, maybe two nights on the lash per week, will be the first sacrifice though.

It's looking like it's going to be a long dull winter.

Well I just finished my last contract a few days ago and I have no intentions of going back to Korea for a while.

It's not that the economy is really bad, it's just a depressing place to be right now. I'm kinda glad I left but that doesn't mean Korea is a bad place to be.

Korea is the one country that has been hit the hardest economically speaking, but these things don't last forever so cheer up everyone.

It's only bad if you need to transfer money home or exchange. My quality of life here in Korea hasn't been affected because I am here long-term and keep the vast majority of my money in Korea. If I had a significant amount of money to exchange every month, it would be different. But I suspect that those who are here indefinitely aren't hurting too much.

It sucks, but it could be also much worse. I have enough money in my account to not have to send any money to Canada for 5/6 months. Hopefully by then the Won will have showed some sign of improving. I cans till pay off my debts and have a good life here despite the Won losing value.

Won goes up...won goes down. The rates always fluxuate and every few years this happens. It's not a problem unless you are forced to convert due to time constraints. Yes the won dropped 40% in value in the past 2 months, but it may very well increase back to 1000 or 1050 in 3 months.

Panicking won't help you and the only thing that you can really do if you want to keep your savings is have patience and wait it out. It WILL get sorted eventually. Keep your money in won.

Sure seems that all the experts think Korea's not equipped to bail itself out. And the capital flight problem is a wildfire that kinda doesn't reverse until places become third world and then people get greedy and want to invest there again....It also seems that prices will need to be increased within the country to deal with such mega devaluation of currency. Seems like a 700Won ice pop should go up to a 1,000. I know the genius president sold the utilities to generate more cash..so utilities will just keep going up. I saw with my own eyes that wages dropped over the past year. I've heard they're legislating for our cheaper 3rd World replacements from 15 other nations starting in January(is that a rumor?)...Oh and the sky is falling too!

Even at the current rate I'm still making more than I was back in the states. And that was when there were a few jobs still left to be had. Nope, I'll stay right here.

Yeah, it kind of sucks right now, but I'm still coming over. Planning on staying 3-4 years so in the long run, it will most likely work itself out in our favor. If I were only interested in a year I definitely wouldn't bother though.

I gotta ask:

Why are you leaving?
Where are you headed?
Will you exchange all your won before you go?
Do you think you will ever return to work here?

As long as soju stays around 1000 won I don't give a flyingfuck what happens.

Put that in as response circle seven.
Or, replace it with circle three.
