They are not accepting an original diploma at all?

See recruiters tell me to get an original - originals are on superthick paper that is sort of textured.

If I make a copy for 10 cents it is some flimsy thing - really anyone could fake something like that more easily than the original - though of course someone could buy fancy paper and use the multicolor ink on a fake copy too.

Did you read the posts preceding yours?

Yes, they're accepting originals.

If you want to submit an original diploma with an apostille, Immigration will accept it.

But think about it.

You're going to lose your original diploma instead of a copy because Immigration will not return it.

I don't know what the link was as it didn't work. I've always gotten my diploma back, however.

The link is to the Korean Immigration Service change in E-2 visa application procedures.

We're trying to help you understand that the process is changing.

If you call Immigration (02) 1345, they will explain that under the new rules you won't be getting back your diploma like you were used to in the past. That's just one of the changes taking place.

For more information on the new changes, see: http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/index.html

Next, type "E2 Conversation Teacher" in the search box and at the next page, scroll down to "Conversation Teacher (E2) related system improvement notice," where you can read the full text on the new changes.

Who is we?

I see nothing on that site about immigration keeping your original diploma. I just submitted my original diploma last week and had it accepted. I also just spoke to the woman who has my documents and she verified I would get my diploma when I return to Korea.

I really don't understand what you're talking about.

This is getting tiring. People now are just asking the same questions over and over (Sandy, I'm looking at you).

This is SIMPLE.
Quote:
he change of 'self verification of the original diploma' syste
- From 2010.9.1 when you get visa status invitation, apply for extension, apply for the permission to move into a new workplace and all kinds of sojourn related applications you will have to submit a copy of your diploma or graduation certificate or certificate of obtain degree which has a Apostille stamp or verification from the Korean Embassy in your own country or a verification from the Korean Council For University Education.
* The original rule for submitting the original diploma and sealed transcript system will be abolished.(from 2010.9.1)
http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/InfoDetailR_en.pt?categoryId=2&parentId=382&catSeq=385&showMenuId=374&visaId=E2

Just copy your diploma, and get the copy notarized and apostilled! If you're in Korea, and have an employer waiting for you, they can go through KCUE for the authentication process.

Seriously, just follow these simple instructions. I know things were confusing at first, and there's still legitimate questions, but this has been done to death.

Today, I received a phone text indicating that my EMS delivery to the FBI office had failed.

I was wondering if any of you have sent your documents by EMS? If so, did you have a successful delivery.

I called the FBI last night and they did receive my EMS mailing.

Suggestion: bring your EMS receipt to the post office where you mailed your packet and try to pinpoint why delivery failed, where the packet is and what will happen next. From there you can formulate a plan of action.

How long did it take for it to get there?

I can tell you that they kept my original marriage cert. So they might have no qualms keeping your degree.

I understand that after September 1, 2010, that transcripts are no longer required. So I sent away a request to my university for my diploma and asked that it be notarized. Weeks later, I phone the university registrar and am informed that they do not notarize diplomas and that I must request transcripts and ask that they be notarized. How do I resolve this with the requirement that university diplomas be notarized? Thanks in advance.

Universities do not notarize.
However they will stamp/ verify/ supply an affidavit to say your degree is genuine.

Ask for that, then get an official notarisation as well from a public notary.
then get you apostille.

Nobody can argue with that...

What's to stop a University from having a notary public on staff?
