| If thats the case for black men/white women why isn't it the same for black women/white men. White men also outnumber black men as well. There is not disparity in the number of black men/woman there so by that argument we should see an equal amount of black men/women dating outside their race. Also you don't see the same amount of interracial dating in other non-white communities in the UK. |
There are some Asian-American girls who say they won't date Asian guys because they grew up with them and hence, view all Asian males as brothers or cousins. This is completely illogical because if instincts like that were natural as some of these girls claim, then the human species wouldn't have survived since widespread interracial contact is only a recent development.
White is held as the ideal, and some of those who have the means to "move up" (black men and Asian woman) will do so. White people are in denial if they insist that such a hierarchy does not exist, and they largely benefit from it by having the widest choice of mates. |
I don't disagree with your comments that some see having a white boyfriend/girlfriend as some sort of status symbol - certainly I see it with black men. Even to a degree in Asian(I mean Asian in a British sense meaning people from the Indian subcontinent) communities where they prefer their children to marry someone of a light skin tone.
While white men in Asia certainly benefit for it, its also fair to say that white women are somewhat disadvantaged by this in the dating field. That said there are places they could do where it would be an advantage to them (especially if they have a shiny citizenship to offer up as well). |

I'd say that white women are disadvantaged IF they're trying to compete for white men who are primarily interested in Asian girls.
But white ideals are ingrained into both genders, and most Asian guys are probably be very open to dating white women. And there are always plenty of Asian-Americans for a white woman to date if the culture thing is too much of a hurdle.
But some white women may have a problem with "stooping" to date Asian (or Asian-American) men. |

I don't think its a case of "stooping", I think alot of white women just don't find them attractive or so I'm told my female friends. |

Asian guys can be pretty attractive. The desk guy at my old gym was gorgeous. He had a nice build, though. I usually don't go for the slender reed look. I dated a Filipino guy in university, too. My cousin married a Japanese man. I have 2 friends who married Korean men. It isn't stooping.
In any case, dating shouldn't be hard for western gals. I came here engaged to one guy, dumped him, and a few months later was married to an awesome English guy. |

Well depends on what people like. I knew a girl that was obsessed with dating Chinese guys, I would say she had a fetish. (although we did say that they were more "grateful to have girlfriend" than English men). Although apart from her 99% of my female friends I've talked to about the matter didn't find Asian men attractive. Mind you any woman who is going to teach English overseas and is concerned with doing lots of shagging around would be surely go to South America instead. |

You have at least 100 female friends here?
Regardless, it's a matter of taste and open mindedness. |

You keep saying it because Korean guys don't find you attractive. Ain't I right? Recently I've seen so many white girls dating K guys... actually it's becoming more common. |

Speak for yourself, I'm just stating what some of my female friends have said to me. If you don't agree with them take it up with them. I've no interest in dating any guys. Yes and its down to peoples preference or whatever fetish they may have. |

Well I've not discussed it with all my female friends so that is where "some" comes from. The 99% of female friends who aren't into Asian men are "some" of my female friends.
But yeah if some ladies like them they should go for it. The main point being for a straight western women in Korea the dating option are less than for a straight western man. |

Dating really isn't hard here if you're pretty, fit, and nice.
Also, 99% isn't some, it's most. Just saying... |

99 is bold, but I feel ya.
Some people want to be PC and some want to be defensive.

Well if I wanted to be totally PC I should become a really opened minded bisexual and sleep with everyone - why discriminate.
I said some because I haven't talked to all of my female friends about the subject but the 99% I spoke too weren't keen. To say "most" of my female friends wouldn't be accurate because I haven't talked to 99% of them about it. If you prefer I say "most" and just refer to the friends I have talked to about the subject at hand, that is fair enough.
I did have one friend who went to a "Film and TV studies seminar" at BFI and there was a lady presenting a paper on the "Under representation of Asian men in porn". I wasn't at the seminar myself and my friend didn't go to that particular panel so she couldn't report back on what it was about. |

Unless you have at least 100 straight female friends in Korea that you've asked, you're pulling that number out of your hoo ha. It's math, not semantics. |

Maybe he misinterpreted 99.9repeating% as 99%. Can't really get too stuck up in such a small rounding error. |
