You believe in god or you do not, who cares!
If someone wants to believe in the Christian god, or the Muslim god or the writings of the Buddha SO BE IT!
Why does it bother people?
I do not care if someone is a bible basher!! I do not look down on them! Neither do I embrace them!
That is their life and what ever it takes to walk the road to the end makes you feel better or helps you to be a better person. Good on ya!
Why are so many people worrying about Christians or non-believers!!
The atheists and the believers WILL NEVER see eye to eye!
If not believing in a higher power makes you feel righteous and helps you sleep better at night then so be it!
Fact is no one knows!! The atheists only argument is show me proof of a GOD!
In addition, the believers say to the atheists show me proof he does not exist, the atheists say that is my proof, you not showing anything!!
BLAR BLAR BLAR BLAR!! This argument has gone on for centuries and will continue to go on for as long as life exists on this planet!!

CHRISTIANS have no right to force the bibles teachings down someones neck.
In addition, Atheists have no right preaching that there is no god to believers either!
I think both people should practice their beliefs and non-belief opinions to themselves!

then again.. these threads are always good for debates! Laughing

Do you have any evidence to back up this claim? Or is it yet another opinion?

and

Well, just read through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and see for yourself. I know you doubt whether anything in the Bible is provable at all and that's fine. But people who claim to be Christians tend to base their beliefs on the life and teachings of Jesus as found in the Bible (as they should). You don't believe in the Biblical Jesus, but those who do should notice that Jesus spent a lot more time teaching, healing and generally doing good than he did arguing.
Quote:
Jesus died for your sins

Sorry I dont buy into that.....it is simply a claim by christians in order to lay a guilt trip upon people....sort of: "you should worship god and jc because he died for your sins....so you owe him!" which really ticks me off.

You are mistaken on this point. Christians do not claim that Jesus died for our sins in order to lay a guilt trip on people. Christians claim Jesus died for our sins because they are Christians and the belief that our sins were paid for by Jesus is probably the most central, basic teaching in all of Christianity. Ironically, Jesus dying for our sins actually does away with guilt. But what exactly ticks you off about the idea of owing your life to God? Modern godless idealogies have given us the freedom to be thankless and believe we owe our existence to nothing. But I'm curious, if someone did die for you in the process of saving your life, would be thankful or ticked off?

Jesus told Peter that he would make him a "fisher of men." Christians should have a desire to tell others the good news of the Gospel of Christ.

I have a problem with this. Look, I'm also deep joyful and happy because of MY philosophy on life which has nothing to do with God. But I don't go round saying to strangers "Have you heard the good news of common sense? Let me share the joy I have because of this rational approach to life!". I don't feel I have the right. And I don't feel xians have the right to shove thier idiocy in my face either.

I'm not real big on going around to strangers and preaching either. It irritates me as well. However, I bet a lot of Christians would say, "Hey, why shouldn't we go around talking about Christ to everyone? We have the World's idiocy shoved in our faces every day." I would be interested to hear the "good news of common sense," though.

Sorry dude.....its just a book. It has some historical generalities but nothing overly concrete. It makes alot of claims and writes some stories about how to be good to each other...nice concept...but not factual. There are also people out there who live their lives in accordance to the Jedi Knights from Star Wars...and yes I think they are just as crazy as the xians.

xians make claims, tell people what 'their' god says, thinks, does.....for those of us who are smart enough, strong willed enough, and comfortable enough have no need of your xian god. Does this make us bad people? Having people come up and try to sell you something you dont want or need is truly a pain in the ass. Why cant xians understand and accept this? I dont wander the neighborhood knocking on doors saying "have you kicked god out of your life? I can help you" Laughing

Then why do they keep trying to include those of us who dont accept your religion?

I would be thankful. But your god didnt die for me.....didnt save my life...its simply another baseless claim by christians. IF you cant see the explicit "you owe god" that is encased in your message and the bible then you are blind!

"Only fools choose to debate politics and religion, while only the truly idiotic venture to do both at the same time". - Thomas Jefferson

No one is going to convert me, religiously or politically, by posting a thread its a total waste of their time to try.

I totally agree that the evangelical nature of Christianity is very annoying, but who cares. They filter what I have to say and I do the same to them. Its not like they go door to door trying to convert... hmm..., well what I mean to say is they have their opinions and I have mine.

Nah, nah nah nah, life goes on.

Quote:
(26 June 1999, New Guinea) Reverend Newton Day, a self-ordained minister of his own Blessed Children Church, left Melbourne, Australia with his wife Pauline and daughters Paulette, Alicia and Sara. The ill-fated Reverend was determined to bring religion to a tribe of satanic cannibals. He dragged his fearful wife and daughters into the jungles of New Guinea. His sister begged him not to risk his babies' lives like that. "But he said the cannibals would love his kids, and that would make his job even easier." As it turned out the Reverend Newton Day guessed wrong. The Tuoari tribesmen promptly ate the Reverend Day his wife and his three daughters. Concerned locals said, "We tried to tell him that Tuoaris don't want missionaries. They are perfectly happy worshiping the devil and eating any juicy white man who comes along." "Neighboring tribes say that the preacher and his family were in the stewpot before he ever got his Bible out of his duffel bag," Detective Ike C. Doka reported. "The Tuoaris ate like kings and danced all night long."

Just goes to show you should leave well enough alone eh? Laughing

The following stories are apocryphal. They are included on the Darwin Awards website because they are inspirational narratives of the astounding efforts of legendary Darwin Awards contenders.

Sounds like you're identifying a little too much with the cannabals... Twisted Evil

Preachers should use common sense when trying to deliver their message just as mail carriers have learned to be careful about going near canines - Beware of barking dogs - they might bite! Shocked

However, in terms of the overall preaching mission I think there's an old (Bengali ?) saying that goes: "Let the dogs bark, the caravan will pass..." Cool

That quote refers to the Tuoari as satanic... do they have any concept of Satan? The Rev didn't get that far.

No, you offended people. In another thread, I said that I was "shocked and appalled" by the PowerPoint presentation that you put up. You ignored me.
What part of "shocked" and "appalled" did you not understand?

I guess I ignored you because you made assumptions in which I didn't intend. However, I did answer you on my thoughts towards those who commit idolatry.

When and where did this happen? I'm not calling you a liar. It's just that I did a search, and all I could find was this:

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=38877&highlight=church

No blindsiding there that I could see.

The blindsiding was deleted! It's in the facts forums on what churches to attend. It's locked so people can't post in it. Too bad, because I have found some nice churches now.

This, Sir, contradicts something that you said in an earlier post, which has since been deleted.

Quite convenient, I might add. Cool

If no one can tell me in ten meaningful words or less why this thread is of any use whatsoever, I vote for its immediate locking and/or death.

What I deplore about the Christian zealots is that they can never answer the hard, practical questions; rather they always revert back to that glassy-eyed, robotic default mode of the religious platitudes they've been thorougly brainwashed with rather than using their critical thinking skills--which no longer seem to exist outside of the cultish framework of what they've been told to believe. If you talk to one you'll always get the same robotic drivel as talking to 1000 others....mind-grindingly predictable and boring.

Christian zealots who have turned up on the boards here just to prosetylize is as annoying as having the Jehovas at your door every single day Evil or Very Mad
