Depending on my mood, I either say 'hi' in return and move on.

Or I pretend I'm Russian.

Hi?!
What about, "Fukc You!"?
Once some high school kids, who obviously didn't realize the severity of this little comment, yelled it at me before running off. As an American my immediate response was to hunt them down and kill them/their families, but I resisted the urge and pretended not to notice.

I need to learn how to say, "Shut up. Your English is terrible and brings pain to my ears." in han-gul. That should work for kids who say "Hi!" and kids that say "Fukc you!".

You could probably say ̾! Ϳ Ž! ò! However, if you say it with the slightest of bad accent or other error, it's just gonna make you look stupid, ya know. Think about some Korean dude in the US trying to get angry and tell you off with his horrible English. It's just funny, right?

Yesterday I was outside smoking and this little girl walk by with her mom and pointed at me, big smile on her face, as they walked by. Her mom just smiled, like yep, go ahead and point at the white foreigner, sweety! I was in a *beep* mood that day (bank problems) so shouted !? ! (Why are you pointing? So rude!) Normally I wouldn't have reacted like that, but, as I said, I was pissed off already.

Btw, hangeul is the Korean writing system. Just an fyi.

I guess you missed my concession that the only reason I did it was a result of my bad mood. It's okay for a little girl to be rude to me, but I'm not allowed to even consider being rude. Nice double standard, Homer. Rolling Eyes

Ever had plenty of money in your bank account but not been able to access it due to consecutive bank errors for over 10 days straight, meanwhile being able to do jacksquat and borrowing food money from your boss? Well, I was on day 9 of this torturous fiasco, and was trying to smoke a calm-my-ass-down cig because I'd just gotten off the phone with a retarded monkey that works for my bank. So, yes, a little girl pointing at me while her mom smiles approvingly set me off a bit.

That being said, since when is "Why are you pointing? That's rude!" considered telling someone off? Give me a break, man. The hostile part was in my tone, not my words. You understand Korean and have been here awhile, right? You haven't noticed the tendancy of Koreans, especially youngins, to question motives? ׷? ? ...

Since when is it rude to tell someone who is being rude that they're being rude? What the hell kind of sense does that make, man?

What I said was perfectly fine. A girl pointing at me with her mother's approval is certainly not fine, in any culture I know of. Every single one of my students I've talked to about pointing thinks it's most definitely rude.
