I'd order pizza!
Has anyone seen the Big Snit? Academy award winning animation on this topic....hilarious and an all time fav. of mine.

NFB has some great ones including Neighbours and Rosemary and George. Also note, Oct. 28th in animation day, get on the site and see some great stuff on that day.

this is a question I thought of a great deal when i was younger.
I came to the conclusion that i would not do anything different than any other day.
in other words: I try to live every day like it is the last day. |

I would spend the entire day kicking myself for dismissing the end of the world as something that is totally not going to happen. I should have lived in the moment! NOOO! NOOOOOOOO!!
Oh well! |

Quite right too, you should be flat out snorting coke, trying smack, eating salmon or getting that macrame work done before its too late. |
That grammar error really is one of my pet peeves. It's not that hard to understand, folks. "If I were a rich man..." |
It is not an error...there are no rules, just usages. Usages change. Maybe not before the end of the world though... |

| To those who'd try smack, whilst an excellent way to dull your senses to the impending annihilation of humanity in a sufficiently large dose, it is rather overrated. The Big H is simply a central nervous system depressant and is, therefore, not that interesting. I recommend a different activity. I regret to say my activity would probably involve sexual deviance. |

Be relieved I didn't no longer have to be saddled with big student loan debt and the constant pressures of capitalism.
After my relief, I would just call home if I can get through and tell people it was real and I love them.
That's 'bout it since you probably wouldn't have time to make it off this rock. I am betting awful miserable sounding speaker trucks would have a heyday!!! |

In fact you are quite wrong. It has become accepted use. Both ways are now in fact correct, and it is merely a matter of style. In fact, I usually do use the subjunctive - but it is getting old fashioned, and slowly slowly falling out of use (though I wish it were not), though still used in most formal writing. However, I do believe that on a message board, a casual style is quite appropriate.
Don't be such a pedantic fool.

I know what I would do if it WERE the end of the world! I would tell Big Bird that she is always right and watch her head get even bigger. I would compliment her until her head exploded.
And then. Then, I would be happy.
(Big Bird, did I not say it was one of my PEEVES? Of course it's a message board, of course a casual style is the norm. PEEVES don't give a damn about where the PEEVE takes place. Why the hell does my opinion make you so upset?) |

No Atavistic, go back and read your post. You referred to it as 'that grammar error.' I replied that you are quite wrong if you believe it is a grammatical error. In the 21st Century, replacing the subjunctive with the simple past tense is no longer considered a grammatical error, but rather a matter of style.
You implied quite wrongly that someone not using the subjunctive does not understand English grammar. This makes you ignorant or pompous, or possibly both. |

| I'd phone the man who dropped out of sight earlier this week and tell him just how much I missed him, and then I'd start making my way down the list of things I always wanted to do but was too afraid to. I think I could manage to go skydiving at least |

| i think if the world were going to end ...sex would almost be a required activity...maybe cocaine and Jack would also be nice ......I think this though would feel like those parties in Jr. High where you are having fun but you know it has to end and you won't end up with your crush that you really want to be with........better to spend the final moments in prayer...it gives hope and that feels damn good... |
