When I was a little girl Madonna was just the *beep*. We all dressed like her and watched those damn marathons on mtv. She wasn't pretty or ugly, she was just COOL. She just was. She made you THINK. She remained cool well into the early 90's, then she kind of went away for a while. Britney wanted to kiss her, Christina wanted to BE her (and still dresses like her, in a way.)
I have no idea about sex appeal, or not. All I know is that she was a major fashion icon and one of the forces of the 80s. My older friends say that only the posers and the preppies liked her, but for little kids she was like all there was. I think the first time me and my friends listened to music in our rooms (not mtv, just playing music), it was her.
She's kind of like an icon thing, but it's hard to attach sex to that. In a weird way, as hard as she TRIED to be overtly sexy, it's not what she was about...it's not that she failed at it, nor succeeded at it, she was just more of a poet who made you think. |
As a 14 year old boy, I attached a lot of sexy to that.
A good entertainer - but poet??? Hardly
She did make people think though (about sex.) |
