I don't know what they think , but from now on I'll be thinking "Wonder if that's one of those delussional , Narcissists from ESLCAFE .

Let me assure you , most Koreans are rather disinterested and apathetic towards your existance .

That is usually what is said about me in Korean. I went to the dentist yesterday and the assistants were talking about my gender. It's like hello? I'm right there Rolling Eyes

I don't know what they think nor do I care. I'm usually too busy thinking about something more important than thinking about what they could be thinking about me.

Did you really just say that? Wink
EDIT: Sorry Alyallen. No offence. Not sure if it's the attitude or wording but this post has me laughing hardl

Hey, I'm not so concerned about they think when they see me. With all the aimless wanderers and motorbikes on the sidewalks, I'm just glad when they do see me.

Sometimes the funniest things are the most truthful. I've had that happen to me several times in Korea at a number of different places. I sometimes say that I'm a woman in Korea and other times I just laugh and keep on walking.

I didn't say anything to the assistants. What's the point? I just looked at them and smiled and though "You bitches. Worry about my teeth, not my gender!!!"

YEAH! SEE!?? this is one reason NOT to learn Korean. I know Im a foreigner/not another dimwitted Korean person. I dont need these people to remind me. They just assume we dont speak their language anyway.. so lets not speak it! Ignorance is bliss, knowing leads to conflict, here in korea.

It definitely depends on which Koreans are looking at and passing you.. if its some of those annoying teenage boys who spontaneously say, "HELLO!" and look at you as if you are a monkey getting a fresh banana to see its reaction, I'd say they are thinking, "what will the monkey do now? Its so interesting."

But, if its an older man, it could be he's thinking, "oh, a foreigner... Im afraid of those but today I'll be courageous and say hello.... oh, no, im too scared..."

This is one question about which you cant generalize i guess.

Why so negative? All it means is "Oh look. A foreigner."

Mehh...who cares? I live in a rural area and a lot of the people here appear to be the korean version of the banjo twangger from deliverance. I have no qualms with gape jawed yokels eyeing me up as i go about my business, makes me feel a bit sorry for them really.

I think you didn't include what I wrote in your quote.

Sadly, I was a lot more comfortable walking around when my Korean wasn't as good. But hey, I gave some jackasses the finger last night, so I guess I'm finally reverting back to my confident NYC ways Laughing
