| Wow, Guam is just like the USA, but it's in Asia. That seems so weird, but it's that place you can go to the USA without actually going all the way to the states. I think that is cool and would like to go just about right now. |

I guess being the middle of nowhere in the Pacific is Asia. I know a USAF girl that has a house there, I'm trying to find time to visit next year. |

I've been there. They have the biggest K-Mart in the world. Walked through every aisle going "ohh" and "ahh". Bought a rolled carpet for something like $30 and checked it at the airport. |

You can go to Guam and have your employer pay for it by doing a visa run to Guam.
I highly recommend you go to Guam, USA, for a visa run.
A South Korean consulate is located on Guam. I've gone on two visa runs to Guam, USA.
When it comes to visa runs, employers generally send their teachers to Japan -- Osaka or Fukuoka, depending on where in Korea your at. However, if you work it out with your employer, there should be no reason why you can't do your visa run to Guam.
My two visa runs to Guam were great! Guam is a great place to visit!
Sunny weather, beautiful beaches, great shopping, outstanding scuba diving, and you can recharge on all your Americanisms that you don't get in Korea (American TV, movies, pop culture, restaurants, products, etc.).
Guam is a real tropical paradise! That's why it's a tourist mecca for Japanese and Korean tourists.
I highly recommend doing a visa run to Guam!
You can eat all the Taco Bell you want there!

I'm in Guam, USA, right now, and I just pigged out at Taco Bell for dinner!
I ate many hard tacos and one soft taco. I've always prefered hard tacos over soft tacos.
Lots of Japanese tourists here, as always!
The weather is sunny and warm, as always!
Guam is a real tropical paradise!
Sure beats the current winter cold and darkness up there in Seoul.
I will be hitting the beach soon!
Being that Guam is just west of the International Dateline, it is the first place in America to receive each new day, and as such, its slogan is:
"Where America's Day Begins!"
Guam is a great place to visit!
I highly recommend one come here for a visit either on vacation or on a visa run.
And if one wanted to live here, that's easy to do, as Guam's public schools always have a teacher shortage.

Even though Taco Bell is NOT Mexican food, why is it that Seoul can have 2 Hooters locations but no Taco Bell? A Korean guy told me thee used to be a Taco Bell under Uncle29 in Gangnam in the 90s, but it closed because Koreans thought it was too hot. |

Maybe theres some connection between eating many tacos and a lack of romantic partners.

There were two Taco Bells in Seoul, one was in Gang Nam.
T. B. came to Korea too early, the market was not yet prepared. |

I'm glad you are having a good time in Guam. Enjoy those chalupas, mexican pizzas and nachos with cheese.
What do you mean about Guam's public schools? Do they require a state-side Teacher's certification? I would think so and in this case it would not be easy for most people who teach ESL. |

Mmm..Yongsan Base.
I play poker there once a week, and am always sure to pick up a few beef soft tacos.
Once you get your fix, you quickly remember that its pretty poor among the taco chains out there however. |

|
|
Since my last post I had come back to Korea for a month and then went back to Guam for my visa run. I've recently arrived back in Korea.
When I was last in Guam I ate at Taco Bell 2 times. It was great! On the widow there is a call-us-for-suggestions sign for people outside to see and it gives the toll-free number: 1-800-TACO-BELL.
So the night before I flew back to Koera I called that number with the intent of telling them that they should open some Taco Bells in Korea. But their location is in Eastern Standard Time and I was in Guam Standard Time so when I called they were closed. Or maybe they were closed because it was the weekend, in the East Coast and in Guam. I can't remember. They didn't provide a voice mail or answering machine so I couldn't leave a message.
Anyway, I strongly encourage everyone in the US to call 1-800-TACO-BELL, which is toll-free, so it costs you nothing, and tell them they need to open up some Taco Bells in Koera.
I do not know if that number works in Canada but if so, then those of you there should do the same.
If we keep the pressure up, Taco Bell will come to Korea!
Again, the number is: 1-800-TACO-BELL.
