| One factor would seem to be that men appear to be able to organise these things for themselves without need for a third party protactor. That has got to change the nature of the beast a bit. |

| So hungry white chubbalubs crave a chocolate injection while chic darker chicks still prefer to lick the vanilla stick? Fine by me. |

The Canadian sting continues in Canada..
Father sentenced for online sex abuse

TORONTO - A Canadian man who sexually abused his 4-year-old daughter live on the Internet so another man could watch was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison.

The father, whose name was not released to protect the identity of his daughter, was arrested in October 2006, just hours after he used a Webcam to expose his daughter to another man who was actually an undercover police officer during a chat room conversation.
The father from St. Thomas, Ontario, pleaded guilty in October to seven criminal charges.
In sentencing him, Justice John McGarry called it a "gross case; a sickening case of breach of trust."
"Words cannot describe what is found in those pictures. They are of a three- and four-year-old girl being used by her father for his own sexual gratification," McGarry said.
The four-year sentence handed down Thursday takes into account time already served, which means the man will serve another 20 months and will then be on probation for three years.
Paul Krawczyk, the undercover detective who watched the live Internet assault, said the sentence was too lenient.
"It's just four years. The child has to deal with this for the rest of her life, and not just the child, the mother of the child, the family members of the child," he told The Associated Press. Nobody ever thinks of the children in this."
In a victim impact statement read in court Wednesday by the prosecutor, the man's wife called him a "cruel person" and said she would rather have learned her husband was dead than discover the truth about his "despicable" behavior."
Defense lawyer Bob Upsdell told court Wednesday his client has been physically assaulted twice while behind bars, and has lost 130 pounds since his arrest.
Officials said the man is one of 82 men arrested worldwide as a result of a global police operation involving Internet child pornography, which began with the arrest of another Canadian man. |
82 men arrested and counting worldwide, all from I'm going to assume referring to Peter Jackson. |

Perhaps those lads on the beaches of Kenya, the Caribbean and elsewhere are no different from the troubadour lads of ages ago. In both cases, they are young and adventurous aiming to woo an older woman in hopes of gaining something: the favor of a woman. And with that favor can come many rewards.
I doubt very seriously that these guys are sex slaves being pimped out by an owner who beats them if they dont turn their tricks. Naa these guys are free agents doing it out of free will. Not so of the majority of female prostitutes in the developing world, especially in Thailand. |
Definitely a double standard going on here...
The issue - or at least this thread - is not about what "the guys" are doing. It's about what the female sex tourists are doing. Are they taking advantage of the poverty of the Carribean? Are they having a harmful effect on the societies and economies of that region? Is what they are doing illegal? Under Canadian law, yes.
It's interesting how you seem to feel a need to turn the issue around to a question of judging the male prostitutes. Many people - at least among the politically correct - feel that prostitutes are, by definition, victims. |
BS, it takes two to tango. I think those young guys on the beach are just opportunists looking to take advantage of rich women. And I think the women are fools if they think they are going to find their soulmate this route. But hey, I don't hear of too many people criticizing men for buying mail order brides, so...
As for the guys in the Carribean, I'll have to ask my new neighbor as he is from there. I'll get back with you when if I get a chance to speak with him about this topic. |

I think maybe you've misunderstood the article. The women are not going to the Carribean to look for gigolos or young grooms. They are going there on short-term trips for the explicit purpose of buying sex. How would the men be able to 'take advantage' of the 'rich women' if the women were not flying down to the Carribean in the first place?

Right, but as mentioned in the article, they're not looking for soulmates, just sex.

Fine, but arguably anecdotal stories are not the same as well-designed social research. This is an issue raised by women social scientists from the Carribean who have done their research and brought it to the attention of the public. |
