If you're into this kind of thing, I believe Miari, the largest red light district in Korea, is near Gireum station on line 4. True?

Can anyone tell me what the grocery options are like between Hansung Univ. station and Miasamgeori station? I read that there's an Emart near Miasamgeori station. Is there a Homeplus in the area? Any farmer's markets or organic stores? Or how about a department store (Lotte/Hyundai/Shinsegae)?

Secondly, any local buses run from the Gireum/Sungshin area to Anguk/Gyeongbokgung/Gwangwhamun/Myeongdong, Itaewon or even south of the river (Kangnam-gu)?

There is an emart somewhere in the area you mentioned.

There is a bus that goes to Anguk from Hansung Station and back, I know. Plus further each direction.

So fellow Seongbuk-gu'ers, where do you go for a local drink?

I know its a little outside seongbuk, but if you're around Suyu, there's a great little area outside of exit 7. There's a Ho Bar and a great independently owned western bar called Rock Day. I wouldnt go out of my way to go there, but if you just want a chilled night to drink with a girl or your buddies, check that bar out. Its the size of a closet, but great music and atmosphere for a down-night.

theres a block of other good stuff there too. im not sure why, but a lot of koreans flock there on the weekends. its like a mini-sinchon of the north.

There is an Emart neat Miasamgeori, and it's pretty good, but terribly crowded. Walking on the sidewalk or in the shops around that area is a nightmare in peak times, and traffic is horrendous.

There's a HomePlus located at Wolgok station which is a little less accessible for people in Sungbuk, typically (fewer buses run there), but for me it's usually worth the extra time to get there for the relative ease of shopping. There are also loads of Homeplus Expresses popping up, there's one very near Hansung/Samseongyo station, one close to the Brown Hotel near Sinseoldong.

There's also a large HomePlus at Yongduk (I think) station, on line 2, but that's likely inconvenient for you.

There's also a Lotte Super adjacent to Sungshin Univ station, which is relatively basic but I shop there quite a lot as it's within walking distance of where I live.

And of course there are tons of independent grocers at or near these same locations. I can't speak to organic grocers, I haven't really noticed any, however there are open traditional markets adjacent to Bomun, Sungshin, and Miasamgeori stations.

There are two large department stores near Miasamgeori station, Lotte DS can be accessed from the station itself, Hyundai is a bit of a walk (past the Emart).

Loads of buses run the Suyu-Miasamgeori-Hyehwa-Jongno line, and then diverge thereafter...101 and 150 for starters, I believe. 142 runs fairly close to Itaewon, you can get off at Hannam and walk/transfer. 143 runs down to ShinNonhyun, I believe.

there is a bus leaves from just acros the road from hansung station exit 5 outside the olleh store that goes to homeplus in dongdaemun - not far at all! (get off at Yongdu station/Dongdaemun Gu office)

i love living in hansung area. it is walkable to both hyehwa and sungshin for busy nights and still quiet where i live but i can get what i want from homeplus express, the beautiful napoleon bakery and now even a Starbucks near exit 5! i love hansung area - you can even take a bus to anam whih is also pumpin on a weekend, havent been ner itaewon or hongdae for several months although i am going this weekend.
