| Americans really should think twice before complaining about other countries heads of state. How's the constitution, pulled it out of the shredder yet? |

Why do Americans always "have to" admit that our country is sooo much worse in order to give any criticism of another country? I feel like I always have to give a disclaimer before any comment such as "I know that we're bad too, but...." Normally, I could just write this off to cautious tact, but I don't feel like other people make this same distinction when going on one of their anti-American rants. Honestly, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, as well as to voicing it, but I get really tired of hearing about how the US messes up so much without much concern for the way other countries are run.
Yes, our legal system has issues. Please tell me a country's that doesn't. I'd be fascinated to hear of this utopian nation. |

You don't HAVE to admit anything. My post was directed at Scotticus, who thinks it's quite on par with most other first world nations.

I disagree, in that it "clearly isn't." I also think that it is on par with most other first world nations, and I'm curious as to how it isn't. And I don't mean that I want 800 examples of how we're awful; I would honestly like to hear how others are great. I mean this as a serious, non-combative request: I am obviously open to hearing how other systems work, and I am always willing to change my perceptions based on newly acquired facts. I haven't studied law, or international law, so I have to go on the limited information I have, as well as what I have picked up about other legal systems while traveling/living elsewhere. I simply disagree that it is "clear" because I still believe the US is on par after I have had discussions on this topic in the past. |

I have never served jury duty. I've never even seen a summons. They may have sent one, but my personal agent would have called and told them I was out of the country. (I'll check with her.) End of story. |
My personal agent says I've never received a jury summons! I guess I could go WAY back and ask my mom... |
