I dunno, man. I've seen some pretty cheap 'foreigners', as well. Today the other foreign teacher surprised everyone and quit on the spot, suddenly. I was shocked. But the Korean teacher beside me said it was coming because there had been 'a lot of (so many!) complaints'. I said 'what?', because he seemed very sensible, upbeat and popular. She said that with the elementary students he sometimes did nothing all class. Just lay forward on the desk with his head in his hands. Sounds funny, downright hilarious as I write this. I would never have expected that from him. I wouldn't behave like that because the kids would eat me alive and gnaw my bones like ravenous mousquitoes, in my opinion.
But back to foreigners being 'cheap'. I'm not sure if what the Korean teacher said is true, or what's true. But I heard he was asking for the cash equivalent of a month's rent for the next month. Which seems rather odd to everyone since he was quitting then and there.
Life sure is interesting sometimes, the comings and goings.

That has nothing to do with being cheap. Sounds like he is lazy and has poor money management skills. Very Happy

I was at a place one time where the toilet paper was rationed. We teachers got worried and figured that it was only a matter of time before the owner starts wanting us to re-use the stuff.
The owner would remove the cover off of the markers and drop a few drops of water into the marker tube to get more use of of them.
He'd want the pay envelopes returned to him to re-use.
