Deimos never really told the administrators or members of the site exactly what was happening. Initially, most members assumed that there was some hardware failure, but after a few days it became clear that Demonoid was more or less forced to move. Maybe there could have been hardware failures too, who knows, but the outcome was the same - Canada here we come.
Relocating the servers to Canada initially solved the problems, but, by the end of September Deimos took Demonoid offline for the second time. Again, nobody knew what was going on until we found out that the CRIA was responsible for the downtime, which was later confirmed by Deimos. It turned out that Canada wasnt the best choice after all.
After 5 days of downtime the site returned, now blocking all traffic from Canadian users in an attempt to calm down the CRIA. At first it looked like the storm was finally over, but on November 9th Demonoids users were welcomed by a disappointing message on the frontpage explaining that the CRIA was indeed responsible for the downtime. |

Help me out, bro-where can I get the current season of LOST? |
Didn't see your request...I saw it is on newsgroups...but any public torrentsite should have them. ISOhunt.com would forsure.
I have decided with Lost I will never watch it week to week. I'll just grab all the eps for the season and watch it back to back. That way I won't feel as annoyed by the glass like movement of the plotline. |

I'm sure it will pick up in the next few weeks.
Unless, that is, the file-sharing addicts, the people who do the quality uploads, see Demonoid as too unstable to worth uploading new files to. |

This is excellent news. Abandoned my old account long ago because I couln't keep any sort of decent ratio up thanks to the quality of ISPs back home.
I was looking forward to getting going in Korea, only to have it go down again.
Now that it's back, can anyone slip me an invite?! I've got speed a plenty! |

I will concede that not everyone might want to shell out cash for newsgroups. I think I pay $40 every 3 months for unlimited access/SSL access and 10 connections. I can download from Korea at like 1MB/s to 2.5MB/s...not too shabby.
The argument about private trackers I just don't get. Sure some are "super l33t" to be apart of, and in most cases you couldn't keep up to the guys paying for 100Mbit seedboxes.
However, being in Korea where the internet is absolutely amazing, I fail to see how anyone can NOT be an excellent seeder. I got cable modem connection and have my upload going at like 1MB/s 24/7. Those who live in apartments with 100Mbit, you could prolly have 2-3MB/s 24/7 if you wanted.
Get on one private tracker, get a good seed record and when ppl offer up invites, guess who they will pick: those with excellent records. Takes time, but not that hard if you play the game right.
I find for Asian stuff BitHQ and ADC pretty much fill that void. I can also hit up D-Addicts.
As I posted earlier, Bitmetv has almost everything TV, the problem is seeding is actually work...it is really really hard to get a good ratio on that site as many people have fast pipes aka seedboxes.
I wasn't really trying to be snobby, just I don't get what is great about a tracker that offers everything and though it is invite only now, they don't seem to have a membership cap. Seems they are a perfect target for the recording industry and movie industry. Guess I don't like to work on getting a good ratio to have a site go down...which Demo has quite a bit. |
Hey I got a quick question.. I am desperatly trying to find Simply Maya tutorials I was wondering if they are on usenet if so what is a good usenet to use? |

I did a search of Maya:
Books Digital Tutors - Dressing and Design in Maya [CD 1]
(550.7MB)
Books Digital Tutors - Dressing and Design in Maya [CD 2]
(679.6MB)
Books Digital Tutors - Creating Stylized Females in Maya
(2,617.8MB)
Books Digital Tutors - Maya Intro To Modeling [CD 2]
(599.1MB)
Books Digital Tutors - Maya Intro To Modeling [CD 1] (568.7MB)
There are a few more.
I used a nzb search site and I pay for a newsgroup premium server.
If you have absolutely no luck with newsgroups PM me, I don't mind grabbing a few things and uploading to you. |
