Good on you for trying to catch them alive and release them elsewhere. I honestly don't think I'd have the bravery to do that nowadays- I seem to have gotten more scared!- but when I was a child, I trapped one that was next to my bed with a plastic box and card and slipped it outside. I came back to find that I hadn't trapped it very carefully and that there were two legs left on the wall...
I'm older, wiser, and even studied entomology as part of my degree. But I still freak out if I come into close, unexpected proximity with a spider. Once in China I lifted up a bin and found a smallish black spider hunched under the rim. I tried to stay calm, but then just dropped the bin and *lunged* at my boyfriend who happened to be standing in the door, willing to knock him flat and trample over him in my haste to get away!!
That crawly, nervous feeling you get after nearly touching one... frantically scraping and brushing at your clothes... I hate that!
One of the better things about Korea- I never found spiders in my apartment. |

| Hm. A ladybird is in my room now, and I feel bad because I know they are good for killing nasty bugs. Plus, they are cute! But it's just flying around my room all crazy-like, and I am wondering if I should free it outside? I feel bad for it. But, if it won't mind being in my room and is looking forward to killing the spiders, then I am all for it... |

I've kept them for four years and have never been bitten. But then I don't handle them. Reports are it's like a bee sting, but it varies. There are diff species and that's why keepers have more than one. Stripes, colour schemes, etc., country of origin, temperament, vary. The docile ones can be handled. I have one of those, a Chilean Rose. Believe it or not it was hanging out at Kwangyang Homeplus (Kwangyang is on the south coast) in the pet dept for 40,000 won.
It's impossible to 'de-fang' a tarantula. The fangs inject a paralyzing venom into the prey. And a digestive agent. Then are used as straws to suck up the broth. Bon appetit!
It's not like 'de-clawing' cats. |

| I'm not bothered by spiders in the house as long as they pick a corner that doesn't contain anything important (bed, computer) and stay there. I've cohabited with spiders for months. Usually ends when I notice they've died and vacuum them up. |

Logic. The spiders are living on something, and it's not you. Whatever they're keeping under control will breed out of control if they weren't around. And I'm sure whatever they're keeping under control is far, far up the ick scale than a lil ol' spider. |

I'm similar. I usually manage to find them and put them out the window though.
if all attempts fail, then its death I'm afraid. especially with the big hairy ones hanging on the ceiling directly above me. |
