And Ya-Ta was joking with you before. You need to ease up on the hair-trigger there. You can't possibly fight all the veterans on this forum and come out endearing yourself to anyone. |
you're kidding right? maybe you also need a reality check -
apparently you are also quite full of yourself - |

Well, yes I have been detained for an act of civil disobedience if you must know. However that has nothing to do with the fact that Al ain't all that respected. Evidence: his presidential campaign went exactly nowhere, unlike Obama's.
(And I have heard Jackson speak. He's a good speaker. So what? It's irrelevant to the topic.)
You can admit it any time: the issue here is that you have become over-wrought because I said I was surprised you knew how to use the word 'wrought' correctly. |
so what was your act of civil disobedience ? not enough prayer in school? white man didn't make as much as a person of color? need more military recruiters in high schools?
|
Only in comparison to you would Ya-ta boy be deemed anything but left-wing. I think nearly anyone on this board can attest to that.
You are what you accuse others of being: a close-minded bigot. |
wtf??
I've not used that word towards anyone in this thread - only pointed out what anyone who actually KNEW what they were talking about and WHO they were talking about would already be aware of - that Jackson and Sharpton are well respected leaders, brilliant men and inspirational orators who make me proud to be an American.
you, on the other hand, are a shameless ignorant pipsqueak who no doubt has never done anything more for your country than to piss on those who dare to change society for the better. |

Ahhhhh, why not...
I did not get arrested at the ethnic studies demos in Berkeley. I did not get arrested at the occupation of the admin building over a civil rights thing at NE Mo. I did get 'detained' (not arrested) --and I still have the letter ordering me to stay off federal property for a year--at Offut Air Force Base during Reagan's nuke build-up. BTW, I was very impressed at the professional training of the soldiers (2) who carried me to the bus. I made the evening news. The parents of my students were not amused.
A little civil disobedience can be fun. |
and no doubt you look upon this - as you've made abundantly clear - this was simply an attempt to thumb your nose to the status quo - I can't help but wonder if there was ever any danger whatsoever towards you or your livelihood - get back to me when you've put both on the line - and lived to tell about it. |

Perhaps, but if I think highly of myself I am at least correct to do so. Whereas not only are you mistaken if you think that you follow the principles you espouse towards others within your own conduct on this forum (see Bucheon Bum's post), but you are completely and utterly unsusceptible to friendly or at least neutral joshing. In other words, by responding so flippantly and sensitively to simple posts, you are violating the advice you would have us take, namely, to get a reality check.
But this thread isn't about you, nor is it about how bad a person Al Sharpton is. Its about Joe Biden. And I just would like to bring us back on topic by stating that Joe Biden rocks. |

1. While you did not explicitly call Ya-ta boy a bigot, the quote above in bold implies that he's a backwards conservative that would be supportive of someone like Jesse Helms, who I think we can all agree was a bigot. You have also accused another poster of being that on at least one other thread. I wasn't merely referring to this instance.
2. You are close-minded because you assume ya-ta boy must be conservative because he thinks Sharpton is an ambulance chaser. Jumping to conclusions are we not??
3. Who have I pissed on who has dared changed society for the better? What public figure other than George Bush have I insulted? Oakland mayor Ron Dellums. And that was one thread months ago. That's about it. If you can quote me ripping other public officials (and not their policies I disagree with), please do so. In the meantime, I'd appreciate you stop making up facts. I did not comment on Al Sharpton. I don't know enough about him to hold an opinion on the man. I was merely disgusted by you playing the race card.
4. And what have YOU done for this country? How do you know what I have or not have done for my country? |

Joe Biden? What a disappointment. Biden voted to invade Iraq and keeps voting for the Patriot Act. If Obama was serious about "change" I wish he would've picked Russ Feingold or really anyone who voted against the moronic Iraq War and against the anti-freedom legislation.
It looks like I'll be voting third party yet again. |

Why do you believe this? And how have your impressions on J. Biden changed since the primaries? I believe you supported B. Richardson back then. I do not recall how you felt about J. Biden.
He has never really impressed me much, one way or the other, by the way. I only recognize that B. Obama probably decided correctly not to invide H. Clinton to join him. I just cannot see her as VP, the more I think about it. |

| At least Obama correctly steered clear of Hill-Bill. Another notch in his good judgement belt. |

Well, I don't know that he has very many of those notches, but I will give him that one. |

In my most humble opinion Biden was the only logical choice.
Also in my humble opinion this is no longer breaking news.
Truthfully speaking I think McCain wishes he could have chosen Biden. |

I think the next question that needs to be asked is will this hurt Obama or help him.
During the primary, there were comments on both sides to the effect that if the other nominee was picked that they would vote for McCain. Now that Hillary has not even made the VP slot, it might stir up her supporters all over again. Come the election Obama might find this decision rash. Not that I am a Hillary supporter...but she did have a good number of voters on her side, which Obama may need. |

Obama certainly didn't make a bad choice. I was hoping he would've picked Seibellus (gov. Kansas) but he feels the need to have an 'attack dog' at the perch. Biden's not going to play 'nice' with the Straight Lobbyist Express. Not only that, it gives him the 'inside-man' he needs to help out with pushing thru his change agenda.
Biden's got his issues, but if the ticket wins, he can help clean up those mistakes like Iraq, the Bankruptcy bill of 2005, the Patriot Act, etc.
McCain wishes this were 2000 again. Now with Biden on the ticket, he needs to pick someone who can go toe-to-toe with him without being embarrassed on the stage. That means LIEbermann. Romney and Giuliani can't hang, Huck don't want it, and the ladies don't even compare. Rice and Powell don't want it either, so that leaves LIEbermann. With him as the VP pick, the GOP ruptures faster than an Evolution Vs Creationism thread. |

Hagel is a better pick. |

Actually behind the scenes Condi wants it.
Hell McCain could pick Hillary for all we know, really turn things upside down.
I don't know if Lieberman would be a good choice, but then again Bush the first won with Quayle. |
