Itaewon is the death of me, really. I get my paycheck and blow it and come to work on Monday thinking "Advance, please." I just cannot control my money spending when I drink.
I have 21,600 Won left and payday is the 30th. Hmm.
Oh well. I'll still go again, but I have to bite the bullet for a while. |
You're going to the hostess bars, aren't you? |

Hell no. It just goes really fast. Once I start drinking, I just keep going and I buy drinks and food all around. Plus I paid off two months' worth of bills (apartment). I was, and will be again, getting a lower than normal pay due to advances. Then there was a bar tab I paid off, money owed to a friend. Bought dinner for 5 people twice.
It just adds up.
Plus I do stupid things like put a 100 bucks down on a pool game when I'm already half in the bag. Played cards for money once, too. Lost a little bit there. That's all from Friday to Sunday.
That's nothing though. You should've seen how fast I went through me pension money.
I'll have to straighten out on that. |

You'll get them eventually, I guess. Things will look up for me again. Getting an advance or three this month, but I was told I'd have to wait until the 10th for my first one for some fkg reason. Something to do with making a written request to head office (whatever). My boss, though, actually came up to me today and asked if I needed an advance this month. Guess he found out indirectly somehow. |

But Itaewon has life. Tons of different ethnicities and characters and types, with everybody (from what I could tell) getting along fine. I find it less clique-ier than a place like Hongdae. People are really approachable and outgoing and uninhibited. I've met several women there, and despite their reputation in Itaewon, the last one turned out to be really great.
Great restaurants, too. Anyone want to help me stick up for Itaewon? By the way, I don't live in Seoul (but am moving there in November), so maybe that's part of it... only go there once a month or so. |
It's fine really..Lots of fun to be had there. I'd help you defend it if it didn't LOOK so ghetto. It just has an overall grimey look about it.
Also, you're more likely to run into creepy Arab guys, or loud obnoxious drunk GI's than any other area.
The Korean girls get a bad rap though. I haven't found them to be generally different from any you'd meet in other areas. Just more friendly? |

That's cool. I'll eat that. That's if you still want to feed a poor such as myself. I'm a good cook. I can return the favor.
You should come out with us tomorrow. I'm at my friend's right now. No big deal. |
