jesus, h...i stopped taking you seriously here.
bubble's not a major club, just a cramped dungeon where you're more likely to get puked on than anything else, frog's a loser's paradise, and monkey's...well...a g.i. loser's paradise. if i were to set foot in any club in daegu, it would be g2.
anyway, daegu's alright. it's convenient to many other places in k. the weather's reputation is overblown. |
i like your style |

Do you teach English in Daegu? Where are you from? Or, are you Korean? |

Yep I'm public school teacher with EPIK.
I'm from the United States Mass. Came over only 2 months ago. I really love it here.
You get here in march right? We'll all go for some beers. You seem like a very outgoing guy.
I think you'll like it here. Even though it's a big city, I get a great suburb vibe here. A lot of teachers have invited me out for dinners, I've been to the church around here too. People make you feel very warm if you're into that sort of thing, sounds like you are because you said that was one thing you liked about Cheonan.
Oh and one other thing about Daegu I think you'll like.
It's very close to Kyongbook (Spelling? I have no idea) but it's considered the oldest city in South Korea, and the one of the top places for a tourist.
PS. Ajossi is old men. |

IN MY OPINION
Daegu is boring as hell. The nightlife simply cannot compete with that of Seoul. As for the women. Daegu girls are the most stuck up girls I've ever met, and I've travelled a bit. I won't deny for a second that they're gorgeous. The trouble is, they know it. |

I know we've been through this before, but I have to disagree again.
Daegu is no entertainment mecca, but it doesn't try to be. That doesn't mean there's nothing to do.
And, the girl situation... wow.. I had to laugh... I haven't been single since my first 6 months here, nor have I had much difficulty just striking up conversations in bars.
Maybe it's your noon-chi. |

Hey EzeWong!
Again, thanks for the pics of Daegu! It looks like a scenic place to live. But hey, could you post a few pics of the city life. Was hoping to see some of the Daegu K-girls that everyone says are so gorgeous!
It would be nice to head out with you and some others for some beers when I get there. People are what makes traveling so much fun!
So how have you found your experience with EPIK and at the public school?
Right now, I'm just finishing my CTESL here in Canada. It will be done at the beginning of December. I can't wait! Then, I'm heading down to Mexico for a few months to vacation with my brother. Then, mid-february i'm heading over to K-Land. My contract starts at the beginning of March. |

Don'tlive in downtown Daegu...it's a depressing concrete hole.
Siji is cool though. Mountain trails and places to workout along the mountain trails. |

I was going to start my own thread asking about Daegu, but since I would be competing with this one, I might as well post here.
My mates and I are comind down to Daegu from Seoul for a night out of the city. Could anyone advize a place we should head to? What station is the main club/bar area near? Can I assume there are cheap hotels in the area? Is there anything special happening this Saturday we should check out?
Thanks for the info,

Head to Daegu Station. Walk out the front door and grab a taxi to 삼덕파출소 (RELAX...). Then ask a cop! No, really, down the road in any direction from there are Wa Bar, Commune, Holy Grill, Frog, and all manner of clubs. |

Holy Grill is awsome. Real American/Candian food like pootie, hamburgers, and sandwiches. The taste is excellent
However, the proportion to price ratio is steep. I mean it's only like 8,000 for a burger I mean you can eat like 2-3 burgers easy for a full sized man.
Everytime I go I spend about 30,000 but that's only because it really whets my American food fix. |

Thanks for the info, some good grub before the night out sounds excellent.
Any more info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey guys,
I'll be moving to Daegu in December. I've got a few questions that I'd like to ask, if that's ok?
1. How close are the nearby mountains? and how easy are they to get to? I'm a keen hiker and want to get out and about once I'm there. Also, any hiking clubs out there?
2. Any big supermarkets there? I'm looking for good foreign imports (cheese, spices etc)
3. Are there some good places to kick a ball around, play bit of football/soccer? I'm a Brit and as such I need my 'footy fix'! |
