I've learned so much from this site--it's hard to pinpoint anything. Maybe the most significant was learning about the Daegu subway fire. The first place I saw anything about it was on Dave's. If I remember correctly, there was a pretty decent discussion of it here.

I've learned a lot about people (foreigners) and their relationships with Koreans (both romantic relationships and friendships). Reading posts here became a hobby and kind of a therapy as well.

And I first learned about fan death here. Even though it is not a terribly important or significant topic about Korea, it was very entertaining to read about. I still get a chuckle when I think about it.

Something I would like to learn about is: Do you think that Korean 'turkey' that is sold as anju is really turkey? If so, why is it pink and why does it have a big huge bone in the middle? I think it is ham and if you do too let me know.

I learned that CoEx Mall has a Sbarros Restaurant. This, TMTATM, made me really gleeful with a capital G. In addition, Kiwiboy, I went there to eat spaghetti with a capital S. Katydid, this is true, except for the G part, which was added for extra effect.

Now what you need to learn, tiger, is that I knew about Sbarros at COEX a long time before you did, making me significantly cooler than you, and I've eaten there many times. However, Katy, I didn't know he wanted to located an Sbarros, so I didn't post anything about it, sorry TMKATM if that fails to meet your requirements for chivalry, I'm working on my posture.

Now if I knew a Sbarros that was on the other side of Seoul, that would be really really swell. I mean really swell.

I didn't start posting because I needed to learn something. I've provided more info than I've gotten. Furthermore, it is a past time and an opportunity to meet some cool people and I did. I actually made one friend and to me that's more than what I expected.

I gotta admit, I also post because sometimes I like to just make fun and get some posters' goats.

I find the site is great for work-related problems. You know you're not alone with some of the insanity inherent in the hagwon.

All my labour law I learned from here.

If you need help, or some information, post a question and it comes back to you fast. Where do you get this, how do you do this, etc.

But the true value of the board is in the vent. An old co-worker of mine in China said he didn't understand why there was an office for the foreign teachers at the university. He said once you get them all together, all they do is talk junk and air their frustrations. Well we got one big foreign teachers office here, and it's quite therapeutic.
