Yessirree~ TEX
We aim to please. I think you'll find we on Dave's are a real tight knit bunch.
Stick together, stay out of trouble, and tie up any loose ends if you know what I mean.

No need to stop the thread. Anyone have any good baby names?

My first suggestion is Earnest, with the middle name Richard, if it's a boy.

OP, i am confused by most of this thread. In your initial post you mention that you are asking "for a friend of a friend" and shockingly, in the rest of the thread you are typing as if it were not a friend indeed, but rather you, who were the one in need. Confused

Give the kid a break. Under a lotta stress. First time away from Mummy's skirt, first time out of his hometown,
first time stirring up a potentiAL International incident.

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot that he's 17 year old home-schooled virgin Mormon elder spreading the faith.

I thought he was 22 college grad that understands the basics of sex and making babies. He should be made fun of, repeatedly so he and others like him reading this thread don't make the same mistakes. For one the natural timing method isn't a proper form of birth control. Secondly, he should know that if he doesn't want kid, then it's his responsibility to use a rubber. Simple as that.

I'm sure after this whole ordeal is over, hopefully without a pregnancy, he's not going to be crying in his pillow because people were making fun of him on the message board.

And I think Helen is a good name for a girl. If only she were born a Trojan instead of a Greek.

... And one last thing I'll add in too. I hope he got his Hep. B vaccination before coming to Korea.

In one post, he refers to the woman in question as his girlfriend so I think it's clear who the thread is about.

Just ground it up in some ramen. Don't worry you've already crossed a moral point of no return.

Just when you think that the posters on Dave's could not get any lower. . .

OP, just to make you feel better, it's not as easy as everyone thinks to get pregnant. Most doctors tell people that it will take around a year of actually trying to get pregnant. So relax, it's doubtful you knocked your girl up.

In two weeks time buy a pregnancy test and also try one more time at the third week. Probably there will be nothing. If there is something, you can deal with it right away.

This happens to people all the time and the result is usually nothing but a couple of anxiety attacks. Laughing

Not entirely your fault, but entirely your responsibility. Just curious, you said they didn't give you the 'legit' stuff at the pharmacy, just OTC stuff... I'm confused. There's different pills for different things. The 'morning after' pill is very high dose and can make the girl very very sick (including debilitating cramps), but is generally not permanently harmful. Lots of countries require doctor prescription. Regular birth control pills are much lower dose and are designed to confuse the body into not trying to get pregnant.

Some people (including me) believe 'morning after' pills are a type of abortion in that they can stop a previously fertilized egg from implanting into the uterus. There have been many pharmacists and doctors in the US, at least, that have refused to prescribe or dispense them. Regular birth control pills can do that too, but I won't get into the debate.

Right now, you've got no other option except to support your girl emotionally, so just sit tight. She's probably very nervous, too. I strongly suggest you use a condom from now on. Even if you could convince her to start birth control, it doesn't sound like she's emotionally ready for the commitment that it requires. Remember also that if you go for birth control method it takes a full week to kick in. Condom before that no matter what.

My understanding is that with 'perfect' conditions, chances of pregnancy are around 30 percent this month. I don't think you were quite at perfect conditions. You were a couple days early for 'perfect'. Using the rhythm method, you're talking about a 20 to 30 percent chance of getting pregnant in a year. Withdrawal method is also high chance of pregnancy. Go look on the planned parenthood website. It's full of good information.
