This feature will be sold as part of an Xbox upgrade, ironically. Basically it will let the Xbox access any movies/music found on a PC in "My Shared Files" on the local network. I don't know the codecs and details, but that's a general overview.

Did some reading up on this, and this might not be as easy as it sounds. From what I've been able to gather, the upgrade is considered an extender to the XP Media Center Edition, so it won't work with just regular old XP Home/Pro. Friggin' stupid if you ask me. There's a ready market of consumers out there who'd love to be able to access their movies and music through a network share, but I doubt they'll be willing to pony up for a Media Center PC just for the privilege.

Talk about needlessly limiting your market. I'll personally stick with the mod chipped XBoxes.

My PS2 was a lovely machine, but I sold it when I neede cash quick for airfare.
I regretted it, so my girlfriend bought me a modded x-box at Yongsan last week. It has a huge hard drive and came with 25 games, not including emulated ones.

I think if I was advising someone buying now, I'd say get the x-box unless there's a significant price difference.
Judging by the games I got on mine, there is no problem with selection, I got both GTA's which run so beautifully smooth, almost no loading time,

Project GOtham Racing 2 has the best graphics I've seen on any game ever, other games like Fifa 2004 and Medal of Honor look and run better than when I played them on PS2. Tom Clancy's new one is really excellent also.

At the end of the day, if you can morally accept buying copied games, then look no further than the x-box. Those 25 games cost 50,000 to be installed on the machine. The modded console was 190 and the hard drive an extra 100 thou. I got another controller too, and I think the PS2 has the edge on comfort and use of controllers, but that's not to say there is anything wrong with the Xbox controller.

Whatever you buy, get a second controller and get some friends around for any sport game of your choice, you quickly forget about graphics, sound and all those other features when you're just having fun.

Aren't graphics and sound part of the reason you're having the fun?

I'm still condering X-box. Right now I'm playing Star Wars Kinights of the Old Republic on PC and I heard it came out first on Xbox. This has to be the greatest game of all time.

Was one of those 50 modded games Rocky by any chance? And did you choose which 50 games?

To some extent true... but I have a ball playing the old school Police Quest and Lesuire Suit Larry games. And they have some really bad graphics and sounds
