Interesting. I called last night (mon. afternoon Ktime) to the first number on the website and asked why I was on the list. Spoke first to a woman who said I "had thrown a pen in an interview." Then I got on with a Mr. (favorite brand of blue jeans)(1/7 of a week)(distilled juniper berries) and I told him I would sue over such illegal behavior. He said that they are not scared of that and asked me a question. "What about people who put bad things about schools online?" I told him that was illegal too, which kind of stumped him. I told him he should take my name off the list and he agreed. Now it is gone.

One funny thing, he asked me right off the bat, "Are you John White?" He also wanted to know how I found out about the list.

If anyone is interested, the pen throwing incident went something like this:

(was called into meeting at hagwon)
Them: We are not paying you the overtime you worked because....."
Me: "This meeting is over." Pen on table. Walked out.

I then proceeded to call the HQ of YES YoungJaeAcademy to tell them, when they asked me who had done this, I asked across the teachers' room, "David, what is your full Korean name?" His reply, "I'm not going to tell you!" The lady at HQ knew who I was talking about anyway. I got my overtime and a layoff notice. Worked for me!

btw, avoid YoungJaeAcademy in Mokdong. Bunch of idiots. Boss then went downstairs to another hagwon (where I had been seen chatting up the waygooks at lunchtime) to tell their wonjanim NOT to hire me, as I was trouble.

I tried to pull up the search function, to learn if my name was on it (had a bad episode with a hagwon manager), however, all that seems to show is:

Quote:

이름 : >input name here<

- 자세한 문의는 협회로 연락을 주시기 바랍니다.

has something changed? What must be done to pull up this list??

Can't comment too much on this anymore, but they are scared. Papers are being drawn up and we might find ourselves in court if they can not agree on a suitable settlement for the numerous jobs I've been denied because of my name on their list.

So I hear KFTRA(Korea Foreign Teachers Recruiters Association) still maintains a blacklist. Do you have to be logged in to view it now? On their
website they list the 17 members of their association:

Boycott them if you wish. I didn't use a recruiter on that list.
