Anyone ever dream in their second language?

I often dream in a few languages that i know. I'm only fluent in two of them but often dream in the ones that i'm not fluent in such as korean...i totally have these long fluent conversations and so on. When i wake up I actually remember a few words from that language that i hadn't known before. It's actually pretty neat...

I also solve math problems in my dream. A few times i remembered the solution and had written it down the next morning. To my surprise, the solution was correct...and i'm not a math person.

The funny thing is that when i was little, my grandma would always tell me that if the first thing i do in the morning is look at the window (no curtain, or blinds up) i will forget my dream. This has proven to be the case every since! Perhaps this is more psychological in nature than anything else, but still kinda funny!

Oh, and i seem to dream a lot about the people i don't get along with. Though in my dreams, we usually do get along lol!

I used to practice lucid dreaming (controlling one's dreams) back in my misspent youth ( eg when I was smoking pot and acting slightly new age hippy-dippy).

I still have great lucid dreams on occasion.
I will share with you a few dreams I've had. (I know this is dull to everyone but me.) About two years ago I had the following dream. It stuck out because it seemed symbolic.

I was standing on a stone road with a holyman of sorts. There was a basket with a lid. He removed the lid and inside was a snake, it looked like a cobra, but it was pure white. Ivory white really, almost as though it were made of stone, its skin was a bit shiny. He began cooing the snake and petting its cobra hood thing. He instructed me to pick the snake up by the tail so he could make the proper sacrifice on my behalf. I did, but then the snake began recoiling upwards in attempt to strike me so I dropped it. The holyman was annoyed, he picked up the snake and tried handing it to me, but I was afraid. He then sliced through the snake's center (hot dog style!) and drained his blood into a jar.

He then gave me a small black kitten and had me rub red liquid onto his fur. He told me it was a numbing agent so the poison would not hurt and he would go peacefully. I felt the cat go limp in my hands. He then gave me the poison. My own hands began to feel numb. I asked while rubbing the poison on the cat, "if this is poison, can't it kill me?" and he said, "you will die, but not now." While rubbing the poison onto the cat, he began to purr. He was still limp but the poison was not absorbing as it should. I was upset because I could not kill this animal who was so affectionate with me. I begged the holyman to let me stop. He handed me a cloth which I wrapped around the cat. The cat still felt stiff, but he was purring very loudly. I told him I would love him forever.

And that was the end. I obviously didn't do anything the holyman asked of me and did not help in killing the snake or the cat which I was meant to. So.... I dunno. :/

I still think this dream (and another one I had about 3 years earlier were the most dream-like of dreams I've ever had).

Last night I had 3 dreams. In one, it was a nice spring day and I was riding my bike Athena (a Trek I left back home) around my current area. I felt the warm sun in my face and the cool breeze. It physically felt very real. I miss riding my bike. Sad

In another, I was looking down upon a miniature European land (vaguely reminded me of my youth in Germany). I knew it was miniatures. I was standing on the top of a hill. On one side was this gorgeous countryside with small village houses and a church boat (wtf) and on the other was a fierce war torn viking kind of area. I was with this warrior chick just hanging out all like "well we could go ride the boat or go attack the other area if you want."

In the third dream, I was with my husband and he said some girl was prettier than me. I got agitated and he wouldn't apologize because he said it was "ludicrous" that I should think I was the most attractive woman in the world.
I woke up all pissy. Which is a whole other scenario. (Who here has ever been pissed at their SO for something they did in a dream? I hate that!)

I used to also have an issue with 'waking dreams' but I think talking about it makes me seem weird. So yeah...

I dunno about vivid, but certainly magical. I very rarely have ones that obviously pertain to real life.

Somebody mentioned how dreams are showing the past life of yours, or dreaming the life you should have had...
If that was the case, I'm from - as I'm sure many others are - another reality.

When my dreams consist of standing in a desolate nothingness with a single small shack, you look to the sky and you see a Neon red and black wave of cloud behaving like Bose-Einstein Condensate crawling towards you, and large boulder-sized crustaceans crawling towards the shack... It's hard to see how it could have been a past life.

...Maybe in China, now I think about it. Of course it's more likely my dream just ripped off H.G. Well's 'The Time Machine'.

I can make myself wake up in the middle of a dream. It's great, however, a couple nights ago I was dreaming about aliens. I woke up and my heart was pounding. It was kind of scary!

Typically I remember my dreams. I also dream in full color. My wife sometimes thinks I am crazy, as my dreams are very complex. I won't go into details about them, but in about 75% of my dreams there is a storyline, a climax and a resolution.

A lot of times I dream about past events in my life, but I would say a good deal are completely 100% made up stories, that if I could remember more than a few pages worth would make for some good novel material. Perhaps one day...

Usually, if I have a vivid dream it's a bad one. I've had several dreams about being other people. The most vivid and disturbing one was when I dreamed that I was a man running from Nazis. I was with two other people. One of them was a young woman who was either my girlfriend or my sister. The strange thing about the dream was all the detail. It was very cold and I was wearing heavy, dark clothes. The ground was rocky and covered in patches of snow. The men chasing us caught up to us and knocked us to the ground. I could see the woman next to me and the man standing over her shot her in the head and I saw her die. The best way I can describe it is that I watched the light go out of her eyes. Then the man standing over me shot me in the back of the head at close range. I felt my head bounce from the impact and I immediately woke up. That dream has stayed with me for years.

The strangest/funniest dream I remember is being chased by Pat Robertson who was trying to baptize me with a bucket of water. I was running away and he was running after me trying to pour the bucket over my head. I'm not sure where that came from, though I can't stand Pat Robertson and probably would run away if I saw him coming.

Wish I could remember something lighter but apparently I don't remember those.

Thanks but if my dreams were any more vivid I couldn't tell them from reality, which begs another question?....

You should always check before you do something - to make sure you are really dreaming.

One good trick is to stand still and jump as high as you can. If you jump over an apartment building the odds are you're dreaming. Go ahead and have fun.

Yup I dream in arabic sometimes and like another poster in color as well.

My dreams (the ones I remember) are usually full on with me getting into/out off extremely dodgy situations. I sometimes wake up needing a smoke, hehe, I kid you not..

so OP I've shared... is this topic in some way related to some sort of post grad study you're about to enter into...

I only ask in the interests of full disclosure, I don't really care either way

I've had several occasions where I wake up thinking of a certain person then that very day or morning news of that person or actual contact from s/he comes. It's a little startling and upsetting to me because I don't have that same influence over the future when it comes to money ...

Hearing about someone else's dreams is like flipping through a stack of photos. Unless I'm in them, or someone is naked, it's really boring.

On that note, I keep having reoccurring elevator dreams. Being stuck in the elevator.

Another common theme: someone has ratted me out to the police, and now I'm on the run from Johnny law. I have to decide between Canada and Mexico. Sometimes I'm on the run in Korea, and I take busses to rural locations.

Also, near plane crashes. Someone else is flying, I'm a passenger. We fly just above the tops of buildings in cities, emergency landing, real turbulent.

My parents' house. There'a a huge lake like a moat around the house with huge rainbow trout in it. It's super easy to catch fish, and they're delicious. You can even fish from the roof of the house. You can even catch them without a fishing pole!

That's enough for now.

It definitely makes me wonder...I've had at least three other dreams about being other people, including a little blonde girl and a black man. I have no idea why I had those dreams but they were very vivid and I still remember them.

Ha, no but not a bad idea. I was really just trying to find out the type of dreams others have and that we can really learn a lot from dreams.

The past few weeks I've been dreaming a lot about my older brother. I used to look up to him 20 years ago but since then he's become a full blown alcoholic barely in touch with reality.

These dreams involve me being around him in some way and me telling him to get away from me, which results in him crying in a corner. It's real friggin sad.

Last night though I had a killer dream. I had an important day tomorrow and for some reason I needed my best friend to dry clean my pants for me. I called his house and his sister answered and I told her I'd meet her with the pants behind her house.

She was dressed up just like a bride and was my dream girl and I immediately professed my love to her. She was only 25 and I was 42. We spent the next few hours in the dream avoiding all of her Greek relatives and my friend George.

We went to a movie, and department store were half of the railing on the escaltor was missing so I walked off the escalator and plummeted 20 feet to the ground breaking our fall with my back.

The employees insisted that an ambulance be called but I kept telling them that I was ok because of my special forces training (never been special)

I asked her about her curfew and she told me, 4 am. We spent the rest of the night planning our future and then I woke up.

Man I'm hoping that this dream really does mean something.
