Hmm, there really is no end in sight, it seems. Allow me to put forth the language snob.
He may belong to or overlap with the intellectual snob crowd, or else he may have other tricks up his sleeve. He's the grammar guy who corrects your misused apostrophes and points out your woeful lack of understanding on the finer points of your own language.
I'm that guy once in a while.
He may also be the expert on a foreign language. Not so common for such an esteemed linguist to brag, but he does raise his head now and then.
I respect him.
(actually i just wanted to keep my thread going, enjoyed reading all your contributions) |

| Public school snob. Has a great locale (think artifical grass pitch and English zone), low to decent workload, well paying ASP, friendly VP, principal and maybe even a hot or several hot co-teachers. The apple of their school`s eye and likes to make friends and acquaintances know about the wonderous happenings (or things that don`t happen to them) at 모모모학교. |

The Movie Snob. I am guilty. I won't pay to see garbage. Look down on those who like the mainstream pablum Hollywood churns out.
Consider people who don't like great movies like There will be Blood or The Thin Red Line to be uncultured.
"So you actually liked the Tranformers?" said with a sneer. |

Good one. I found a lot of Brits fall into this category. Many seem to define themselves by what music they listen too. IMHO
Not a music snob myself but I am vocal about my hatred of Nickleback. |

Midwesterners. I'm one. As nice as we seem, we all know that our corn-feed , hardworking, Midwestern values make us superior to all other Americans who are (and let's be honest here) odd.
Texans. Don't really think I need to say more about that.
The "I'm not an American" snob who acts like coming in second is a virtue and what they intended all along.

I often claim Stalker is my favourite film when I meet a film snob. It's easier to fight off the film snob if you mention films he has never seen. You have to know how to handle these snobs. The sensible thing would of course be to ignore them, but that's not as fun. |

The Athesist Snob: If you have in a tiny bit of faith in something spirtual, usually they show their heads"Oh, you believe in God? You poor thing, you. Tsk, tsk... such a shame. You do know nothing happens to us when we die, right?" Sounds oddly similar to a religious snob.
Speaking of which...
The Religious Snob: "Oh you don't have a belief? You poor thing you, tsk, tsk... such a shame. It's hard to believe you can't see the light when it's just right there."
The Gamer Snob: Despite being a nerd, they are still better than you because they remember when a video game was 'good'. Sounds very similar to the Music and Movie snob.
(Used to be guilty of that one. Until I realized that well... I'm a nerd. How the hell can I be snobby about it?) |

All good replies, thanks.
Cannot really think of any more right now. That's enough anyway is it not?
Jesus, who would have guessed there are like 30 or even 40 different categories for snobs?
You can kill this thread now.
But wait, ideas might perhaps be forthcoming
Maybe the 'clean snob' has been overlooked. Usually not so much snob as sick. Dust is anathema. Coasters are as important as walls. I cannot call her a snob really. Just a sick girl. |

| The Paradoxical Snob: disdains everything he considers snobby. Do you like classical music? In his view you're 'what's wrong with America.' |
