I had a female, Korean friend who, no kidding, could drink seven to eight bottles a night. She'd been doing it for years and had built up a tolerance.

Probably built up cirrhosis of the liver too.

I limit myself to two bottles of Toad Juice.

My wife is a real Dragon Lady. If I drink more than two, she hits me over the head with a shovel.

2 I'm toasted, 3 my short-term memory goes on egg timer.

I try to drink some beer as well, so actually 3 bottles puts me over my limit.

OTOH, it very much depends on how I feel on any given day and what I've had to eat (as was noted by someone else)

Someone told me the stuff tasted like rubbing alcohol.

I don't drink anymore but one night my friends wanted to see how much I could drink so they said they would pay for whatever I drank. I took a shot of everything behind the bar. I was fine, they where a bit confussed. We then went to a different bar and I hit 4 shots of 151 in 15 min. That put me in rare form and I was done. I think soju wouldn't be that bad. Funny thing is I never really drank beer but when I did a six pack at me alive.

+1 on the mix with milkis.

I love soju because no matter how much I eat, how long I drink it, 2 bottles always gets me just right. I can drink beer for hours on end, and not feel anything. Vodka and tequila always vary for me (from 10 - 20 shots on any given night.) But soju (and to a lesser extent sake) always does me right by 2 bottles.

Now put a 3rd one into play, and I'll falling asleep standing in the club. The same situation arises when I drink 2 bottles with no food in me.

As a big ol black man, I love getting drunk for less than the cost of 1 foreign beer here.

Am I the only one who enjoys the taste straight?

To me it's like a weak vodka with a sweet sugary finish.

I actually like to taste too. If I am going to drink some kind of alcohol, I like clear alcohol - vodka, gin etc... so I enjoy soju.

The initial taste of cheap soju is alcoholy, but the second taste is pretty smooth, I think. My mother-in-law bought me a few bottles of Andong Soju, which is very different. The initial taste of that is almost yeasty(?) but it has more of an alcohol burn going down. I have only tried the 21% stuff, but she bought me a 40% bottle, which I am sure will have an even stronger finish.

I'm not a heavy drinker, and I usually only drink for the taste, not the effect. So, one bottle of soju and I'm getting dizzy, two bottles and I'm done. I stop myself after two because I don't want to have any regrets in the morning.

Like hooking up with the DC character in your avatar? Imagine if you woke up to that?

1st one doesn't affect me.

2nd one gives me a buzz.

3rd one, I'm drunk.

4th one, time to go home.

5th one ends up all over the street.

I'm a girl and I MISS soju! My friend sent me some when it started to come in juicepacks and those were gone quite quickly. Mixed with some dericious Chilseng cider (and sometimes sang sang tong or some other "energy" drink) I actually don't mind it!
1- nicely buzzed
2- completely drunk
3- I won't remember drinking nor anything that followed.

1 bottle: Feel not bad; a slight buzz. Can walk in a straight line.
2 bottles: I feel ok then suddenly it hits me and feel like I am in freefall.
3 bottles: Never gone there.

I can drink 8 bottles. Just ask DWAEJI. I am, however, pretty wasted by the 2nd, but I just keep on drinking.
